If you don’t want to see Reddit ever again in search like I did, you can follow these steps:

Step 1: Install the extension from the Firefox store.

Step 2: Search Reddit.

Step 3: On your first search result drag your cursor over to the right on the drop-down arrow and select the crossed out eye.

Step 4: Hide all the Reddit suggestions on your first page.

Step 5: Now you won’t hear a beep again from that Snoo.

This just started yesterday or the day before. I use Firefox with Duckduckgo as a search engine. I wanted to look something up so I put the classical "reddit" at the end of my question. I couldnt find reddit at all. I was confused at first.

After searching it up I found out that reddit would only be indexed if you are using the google search engine. No more. I used to love reddit but now I'm tired of the website.

Lemmy for life!

With the message in the body:

[ Removed by Reddit on account of violating the content policy. ]

Spez is terrified of people finding greener pastures, its almost as if he knows the platform wouldn't hold up to proper scrutiny, so he's trying to ride out that popularity inertia from the 9 years of development as long as possible. Imagine how much bigger the 2023 exodus would've been if Reddit didn't remove all those posts recommending it, I'm just glad one of the lucky ones who were standing under one of the cracks in the ceiling that revealed the light, before the admins patched it and ordered their unpaid henchmen to start spreading propaganda against Lemmy by making it their Goldstein.

They didnt want me to know that I could be free from the shackles of corporate tyranny.

That movie came out a year and a half ago. Can we update the banner? Was there a discussion about this that I missed?

[Edit: New Moderation Team has since been installed by Reddit]

I mean, I totally get it. People keep posting (according the the mod) stuff like "DRONES ARE SPYING ON ME", of course, who'd want to moderate that shit? I'm glad the user decided to quit, and not have to babysit weirdos spamming conspiracy theories. (Its unpaid anyways, why even do it if the conspiracy-therory-filled community doesn't appreciate it)

Welp, that's a subreddit shutdown I haven't seen for a while. Good luck to whoever is next to deal with weird conspiracy shit.

I have attempted to post a few articles from the organization only for them to be immediately removed for no reason whatsoever. Even though they do not go against the subreddit rules.

Quote from the mentioned post:

[...] As of June 30th 2023, we have decided to move away from having an official presence on Reddit. Maintaining a presence on any social media platform comes with its risks - whether it's Reddit, Discord, or any other. When a platform demonstrates a lack of regard for its users, its volunteer moderators, and the third party developers that help provide critical accessibility and usability tools, that elevates the level of risk to something more immediate. This has broken the random functionality on my rdx for Reddit app and possibly other apps. They keep breaking one feature or another and it's getting hard to maintain the app now.

They also removed these other features:

1/ Subdomain subreddit redirect: This is where “.reddit.com” is currently redirected to “reddit.com/r/”, 2. r/random, r/randnsfw, r/myrandom, and reddit.com/random 3. old.reddit.com Snoovatars 4. Saving posts and comments with category or by subreddit.

The don't even announce it on announcements. This is the post https://www.reddit.com/r/help/comments/1fojw02/cleaning_up_some_lowusage_features/

Some more prompts:

  • Aaron swart: when I simply asked "who is aaron swartz", it never mentioned reddit, focusing mainly on his academic freedom activism. When I tried to follow up, it somehow forgot the context. However when asked directly, it did explain how he helped found it, with some caveats of "his title was controversial"
  • API: when asked a very direct question, it gave a decent history, though it seemed overly focused on apollo, and even mentioned lemmy!
  • Privacy: pretty clearly explained all the privacy issues with reddit when prompted
  • refused to answer on why awkwardtheturtle is hated
  • lemmy: answered thoroughly

edit: it may be blocked from talking about specific users. When I changed the OP to "Why is spez hated" it gave an decent answer. Nothing for awkwardtheturtle though

The drama:

Some indian company made a "Anonymous survey" asking about a employee's stress level.

Then they fired all employees who had a certain rating, even though it was "anonymous".
