I'm going to try to stop smoking weed. Wish me luck ๐Ÿคž

Out of curiosity (and if you're willing), how come? Been wondering if I should do similar, would enjoy another perspective.

I smoke too much. It's difficult for me to use in moderation. I've got shit to do and it's hard to find the motivation when I'm always high.

I didn't smoke at all for a month a little while ago and eventually found a lack of creativity stalling my projects which is what brought me back to dabbing. BUT I only remember dreams if i haven't smoked for like 8 hours before sleeping. So I feel a natural cycle of dab and generate ideas in the morning; and do more worklike parts and relax in the evening, then have great dreams having accomplished things.

The crucial thing I find for keeping up progress is blocking myself from activities: No videogames before noon (and now in a videogame lull I may have to make that rule for social media instead).

Tho now trying no weed late in day, historically when I'm on a roll I basically wake up knowing what part to code in, go to noon while purely coding, eventually reach a natural stopping point, and if I've really done that, I feel no shame in relaxing, historically with videogames and continuing smoking, as much as i want until i sleep. If coding left me with nonthinking parts like 'copypaste and slightly modify all of these 100 functions' I also save that for later day between or during games instead of the high creativity of the morning.

Especially in Kotlin getting in to digital keyboard(input method service) I'd code to noon and often just be so in to it I'd view other focuses as wastes and keep smoking every 2 hours while coding until like 4am.

Anyway, everyone is different and I am only sharing what works for me to achieve this same goal, but my suggestion is hard limits on the nonproductive activities taking up the time with the weed. My first step getting production on track wasn't stopping weed but the activities eating infinite time and switching them to being rewards for good behavior. Now that I also want memorable dreams is when i am limiting when I smoke.

in fact,

I made the base of what I'm typing to you in in that kotlin era where I'd be smoking constantly while progressing. So ProgressXWeed can definitely happen successfully and, in my case, it was thru setting hard limits and rules on which activities when. And then I get the extra high thought quality of the weed in the coding. Anyway, that's how I did the weed and progress puzzle. Everyone's journey is different tho. Time to code until at least 10 without looking at social media again. Bai

Interesting, thanks for the detailed reply. I haven't remembered my dreams in many years. Definitely think it's time to take an extended break, and then if I start to experience a loss of creativity maybe I will dip my toes back in eventually.

Also I mainly smoke joints/spliffs so it's really bad for my lungs, if I do start again I'll probably switch to vaping because it's more healthy.
