Update: it pretty much turned out to be option 1. I did manage to sleep in for about 30 minutes longer than my usual time, but since I could've gotten 3.5 hours more than usual and I'm still feeling tired (but can't get back to sleep), I'm calling that option 1

It was 530 for me. 30 minutes earlier than normal, but still.

At least I'm refreshed.

Woke up really cold in the early hours. Blanket was down at the end of the bed so mystery solved. (I have doona + blanket on cold nights) Pulled it up again but tossed and turned since then. Might as well embrace it and call it wake up time now.

Slow, slow start to the morning. I told work I might get a bit done today but unlikely to be a full day and I wouldn't push myself. I'm kind of over lounging around on the couch watching TV all day (got through two seasons of Slow Horses yesterday).

Shitty sleep last night, sweated right though everything again :( so first port of call today, after a slow shower, was to get my big blanket washed at the laundromat. Coordinated nicely between that, picking up work laptop, taking a load of clothes washed at home, drying everything at the laundromat (might as well), food pickup in st kilda and a load of thermals at home.

Going round doing shit today has me feeling better. The sun is helping heaps. After lunch I'll do some light work until I can't. My bedroom feels like Sickness Central since that's where I've been feeling the shittiest, so it's getting aired out today in addition to a change of bedclothes. I hope the worst is over >:(

So tomorrow I don't have anything happening until the early afternoon. That means I can have the sleep in I feel like I needed a week ago. But since I can get so much more sleep than normal, what do we think is going to happen?

  1. I wake up at my usual time and can't get back to sleep
  2. Every single person I've ever met starts trying to call, text, and email me out of absolutely nowhere. That random inquiry I sent to a shop 7 months ago they ignored will finally be responded to
  3. Someone will knock at the door
  4. I can't sleep at all until 30 minutes before I need to wake up
  5. I actually do manage to get a good sleep and finally catch up on my sleep debt

Place your bets now! In 6-12 hours, I'll respond to the winner(s). I don't know what you win yet, I'm fresh out of barnstars from the last comp, but maybe you can have a giant emoji

The best indicator for who will be president in America is, in my opinion, the betting markets. At this point they are basically the collective opinion of people who make money predicting these things based on all available evidence. Currently Trump is about a four to one favourite to win according to this indicator. Pretty amazing

Gratitude thread :)

  • Grateful for my aunt saying, "When one door closes, another one opens. You're not locked in a room forever."

  • spent probably seven hours playing Stardew Valley yesterday and enjoyed myself. But not spending that long again.

I really like the community on here. It's a great place to hang out and I like keeping up with what everyone else is doing. I usually have a personal policy of not putting anything on the internet but here is just the right size and feels private enough I like commenting.

Rang Tenants Vic for last night's issue.

Amongst many things, these two stood out:

  • Under RTA S72 Was told that rental provider must repair within 48 hours
  • Under RTA S67 quiet enjoyment of premises, and that I should be able to use all facilities and rooms to full extent.

But I couldn't find anything written to support the "48 hours" figure and the "full extent" statement that I could refer to in the next email, any idea?

Agent pushed back saying it's normal for the switch to trip if we overload the circuit lol. No shit. But if the apartment's power is cut off from an outside switchboard that only owners corp can access... gotta wait 3 days for someone to come and fix it.

And for clarity:

  • Switchboard inside apartment: Oven, hot water, and I think the stove are on their own circuits. No idea where the bathroom heater is wired up to.
  • From outside of the apartment: aircon on one "line", oven/hot water/stove/bathroom heater on another, other outlets on another.
  • Using oven/hot water/stove/heater together apparently cuts the power to the whole apartment from outside, but from what I can gather, we would be fine using a smaller combination of the above, our own portable heaters and aircon together lol.

[-] Duenan@aussie.zone 4 points 3 months ago

Have come home hungry so I made peanut butter toast.

Came back annoyed from work because I think someone went through my drawers for a stapler which I’ll double check tomorrow morning when I get in.

I will be confronting this person and telling them that going through my office drawers was inappropriate and violated my personal space.

I don’t understand why people don’t know boundaries.
