The problem with starting a 3rd party is actually getting enough support. Dems and Repubs are so entrenched as the 2 primary parties that it would take a miracle to get enough voters to follow a 3rd party. That, and I can almost guarantee both Dems and Repubs would absolutely go full bipartisan on making sure 3rd parties don't get any real power so the status quo of the 2 parties fighting to the death can continue.

I would definitely vote for Bernie, but it would feel like Sisyphus pushing the boulder: an uphill battle with no end.

It's a half baked idea of mine. I'm not actually in favor of a third party presidental candidate. Just Bernie starting one as a power play. Forcing the Democrats to embrace class based economic messaging and ideology as the cornerstone of the party. Bernie is 83, it's best for him to leverage his celebrity and cross over appeal to influence change and elevate the profiles of the next generation of like minded candidates.

The third party would be an, ideally, toothless way to enable that change by endorsing a candidate in the dem primary. And have a long, public and transparent process for that endorsement.

Fair enough.

Yeah it’s the time for the true left to come in. Bernie’s gotta buckle down and commit to being liberal.

We’ve got to put more space between us and the Democrats, who are basically just Reagan era republicans now.

Yang’s forward party has some decent ideals, but it’s not perfect. Socialist is the proper term, but it’s been effectively dragged through the mud too much.

Not an easy path to be sure.

The current GOP broadly adopted the cause of the Tea Party. The Tea Party replaced the old GOP and took its name.

We need a Guillotine Party to do the same thing.

They're not "entrenched;" they're ideally situated for the American electorate. There is not a single issue where a third party could take a position that captures larger vote share than those already taken.

I like the simplicity of the top right. It's got good logo potential.

I agree but if you flip it on its side, it's now a battery symbol. I think the top left is still simple enough and is more distinctive.

Ooh, I kinda like the idea of co-opting existing battery and wifi symbols.
