I thought it was a bit of forced headline tripe they made him say to lead up into the joke, because as "open" as SNL is, they're still corpo-owned. If you watch the clip he's only caught off-guard that the audience didn't even wait for a punchline; he clearly isn't totally surprised that people support him at all
He doesn't want to get fired for being right like Norm Macdonald did for making OJ Simpson jokes.
He appeared shocked because he's joking about being shocked, which often includes "appearing shocked."

Stop saying you don’t advocate it. There is seriously nothing wrong with killing people who hurt other people, especially for profit. There is nothing wrong with advocating for their death, after literally everything else has failed.
I really hope this becomes as frequent as school shootings. Maybe those school shooters will find a more appropriate way to vent whatever that crap is.

Am I vile for thinking that the leader of a corporation that chooses to deny life saving care for share holders dying is a good thing for the lives of many? Maybe it's not a proper societal action...
