Witcher 3. I don't enjoy "dark" "gritty" stuff the way that I used to. I'm way more effected by some of the more explicit themes than I used to be. When I played it it was my only solace in a rough period of my life. I'd rather protect my fond memories than play it again, as I doubt it will mean as much to me now as then.
- Breath of Fire 2 (SNES): I don't know how I managed to finish this game. It's too drawn out, didn't have an interesting story to follow with meaningless and annoying stuff to do and the random battles was too often.
- Killer Instinct (SNES): I played this game seriously, learning the combos and fighting competitive with a friend. But nowadays it just does not feel good to play.
- Toshinden (PSX): Similar to Killer Instinct, I played this game seriously with a competitive friend. Playing it today, I just can't do it.
Space Empires V
It's very old, unfinished and jank as fuck. The ai was never very good and could be steamrolled easily with the right tech tree. But those first few turns while exploring and setting up colonies without knowing exactly which tech your nearest rivals would have or if they were planning an invasion was always very fun. Then it would turn into a tedious logistics game of trying to move your fleets or decommission ships that took you the majority of the game to build.
Also, Space Rangers 2.
It's like an amalgum arcady space shooter but somehow turnbased and space RPG text adventure. It was always very buggy with a UI that is ugly as hell.
Persona 3. It was my first persona game, I loved the characters and the story and it introduced me to the VN medium. I played the port to switch which had quality of life changes, but I do not want to Tartarus again.
That's fair. I played through reload when it came out, but I couldn't get through the answer. I really enjoyed the story, but so much Tartarus without enough between it was like eating dry cinnamon.
LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online) for me. Fantastic community back in the day, and the game itself was fun, too. Now, though, the gameplay is just too restrictive and oftentimes tedious by today's standards. I really do miss the community, though. I made a lot of great memories there.
Mischief Makers
shake shake!
Wolfenstein, duke nukem, most early shooters
Pretty much all the games of my childhood. With a few exceptions, I don't replay most games I enjoyed. I play once, usually say "that was cool." And call it enough for a lifetime.
Pikmin 2.
There are a couple of bosses in that game I absolutely hate to this day and do not like whatsoever. One returned from the original and one is a variant of it. Every game has had a variant of that shall which not be named. Any other arachnophobes probably know what I'm talking about without needing to mention the name.
Megaman Zero games. Even when I was a kid I probably only got past 2 bosses but every time I try to replay them I can never get past the tutorial bosses. Beautiful games but man are they punishing.
