So how are they letting players in a tournament with mods turned on at all? Seems like a guarantee to allow cheating.

Also, I didn't expect Chun Li to be that thick but it makes sense but that's what it takes to kick 1000 times per second I suppose.

It's client side only, there are at least 3 people in the lobby here. The two players fighting may or may not have mods visual mods installed, we have no way of knowing. The third person in the lobby is just a spectator and we're getting their version of the game streamed, he definitely has the booby mod installed. Since the mod is only changing the way the game looks it doesn't cause issues when playing online, a gameplay affecting mod would cause the game to desync. Although there are some mods that show players the normally invisible hurt boxes and hitboxes that would definitely count as cheating.

Chun Li is legendary levels of thicc for sure.

Ahhh, that's amazing. An absolute man of culture I say. Wonder what other mods this person has. Personally I perfer the Chun-Li without leggings mods, a bit of "tasteful" nudity. ๐Ÿ˜

We get it, you jerk off to cartoons.

The shout caster attempting to power through for a bit absolutely killed me ๐Ÿ˜‚

I've never understood the people that do this in a world where there are professionals making ludicrously high quality productions using better models...

[-] blazera@kbin.social 19 points 1 year ago

nah most of them are using SFM, which runs on a game engine. Meaning game quality models. In fact it's pretty likely anyone making 3D chun li content uses the same model, as a lot of the professionals focus on animation and using models made by others, and a lot of those models are based on game rips.

[-] ashok36@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

a lot of those models are based on game rips.

This was a sticking point for getting Judgement a PC port. The actor didn't want it going to PC because he and his agency knew that people could just rip out the assets, which look exactly like him, and generate new works with them.

You can rip assets from any game if you're dedicated enough. All you need is a not-encrypted dump.

I still disagree with that decision, like he's a public figure regardless of what happens he's producing work and putting his name to it. If people really wanted to, they'd find a way to use his likeness, PC port or not.

[-] harmonea@kbin.social 12 points 1 year ago

They don't want ludicrously high quality productions using better models. They want Chun-Li. And under their control.

This isn't my thing, but I mean, you like what you like. It's like asking why anyone reads porn when video is available. They just don't scratch the same itch, and you like what you like.

It's done for reactions, like this one.

[-] Call_Me_Maple@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I doubt it, that guy just loves his mods.

[-] AnAngryAlpaca@lemm.ee 13 points 1 year ago

Ok, im going to say it: where are the screenshots?

[-] brawleryukon@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

There's a video in a tweet in the linked article.

[-] Buttons@programming.dev 9 points 1 year ago

Even more than the video, I want to see Twitch chat's reaction.

[-] adamantris@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

I laughed out loud. Bravo!
