I have lived with cats, none has ever sat on my face.

When buying a computer, most people want it to last several years, with most PCs you can upgrade the RAM during the lifetime of the device. If you buy a modern Mac, you can't.

As time goes on new software will need more and more ram, but on a Mac you are stuck with what you got.

Sure, Apple uses a different way of managing RAM than windows, but that can only do so much. Sooner or later you will get to a point where it just isn't enough anymore. With eight gigs you will get there sooner than with 16.

Regarding your usecase, one thing you need to consider is that CPU intensive tasks does not equal RAM intensive tasks.

Copying a file is neither CPU nor RAM intesive, so it is a rather pointless test.

Docker instances depend highly on what they actually do for work weather or not they will use a lot of RAM, so it is a very inacurate test.

Web development is not as resoruce intensive as say video editing or running simulations.

For you 8GB RAM is fine, for an engineer, video editor, or even a finance analyst, 8GB is putiful.

Then we need to talk about value, I can get an Asus ExpertBook B1 B1402CVA for less than an M2 MacBook Air.

The ExpertBook is slightly heavier with slightly larger screen (but with lower resolution), it has 16GB RAM and 512GB storage space, both of which can be upgraded as the user's needs change.

The ExpertBook costs slightly less than the MacBook, so tell me, why should I pay more to get less?

Now, I realize it isn't that simple, both computers are suitable for different tasks, they run completely different OSes, and have different types of CPUs.

T: "Hello my friend, I need your advice."

P: "For you my dear friend, I will give it gladly!"

T: "Should I sell weapons to your enemies?"

P: "No, it is not a good idea, I strongly advice against that."

T: "Thank you for your clear and unbiased answer, that is all I needed to hear"

When you have enough money and power to avoid experiencing the vast majority of consequences of your actions, then life does become a game for the vast majority of the time.

The reluctance of governments to take action against the rich and powerful just feeds their delusions further.

Back in the summer I had been to the shops, done my shopping and sat in my car downloading podcasts to have easier access to them on carplay, when a 10-12 year old girl opened the backdoor on my car.

I just said "wrong car" to her, she looked shocked, closed the door and walked to her mom standing by a nearly idendical Seat Leon, just a few parking spots further down.

My Brooks Ghost 15 shoes saved me from double heel spurs, double flat feet and a bad knee.

I am on my third pair in two years, I wear them all year round, from 30C to -20C, and they are fantastic.

I need extra wide shoes, inlays and a soft sole.

Sure, they don't last long, but the earlier shoes I had put me in a bad way where I for months cried out of pain when dragging myself back home from the bus after work.

Yeah, I remember when Chrome was first released, I was already on Firefox, and I downloaded and tried Chrome....

I absolutely hated the UI, and kept on using Firefox.

Over the years, I have seen many articles about how Chrome is better because it is faster, I never had an issue with Firefox, so I kept using it.

The only time I swiched from Firefox since version 1.0 was when they launched the Australis redesign as it made it look like a boring chrome copy.

I swiched to Pale Moon, a Fitefox fork which kept the old UI, then when they released the Quantum redesign, I switched back.

Since the scammers spoofed the ID numbers of real phones, it is quite possible that real customers will be affected bu this, so I wonder what will happen if a real customer who has issues with their real phone that had it's ID stolen and needs help....

I was out to Arlanda airport yesterday evening, and took this photo.

I did not use a tripod for this photo, nor is it in anyway edited.

Taken with my Lumix S5 + 25-104mm/f4 lens

This was broadcast on state television in Sweden in the 90s...

I remember watching it back then, having zero idea of what what going on but liking the bright colors...

The main part is just a guy doing a one man show for kids on a terrible CGI background.

There are also weird CGI shorts, music videos, puppetry, badly drawn cartoons, a weird gameshow with teddy bears, bad music videos.

I realize that they are all speaking Swedish, but trust me, this is from an era just breaking out of heavy moralizing and the segments of the show are constantly overbaering with trying to tech kids stuff.

It is not without it's charm though, I kinda like the gameshow part, even if the concept is a bit contrived... But I like the attention to detail and how nicely made it is.

In the 80s/90s Arnold was a huge movie star, playing huge men in both serious and comedy roles.

I guess that what I am asking is; what actor today could occupy the same kind of decade defining place as Arnold did in the 80s/90s?

They don't have to be a massive bodybuilder, but they should be the first name that anyone would think of when someone say "2010s/2020s".
