Just wondering if such an option is possible on a phone that is totally Google-free or is virtually de-Googled?

It's actually compact, cheap, has oled, in-screen fingerprint reader, stock Android, NFC, Snapdragon SOC, supports GSI and has unlockable bootloader. Seems like a perfect phone (well except nonexpandable storage), so what's the catch?

I've been using Feeder for awhile now, and have kind of dealt with it skipping around, but it's still bothering me and I'm not sure if it may be something I'm doing wrong.

I've set it so I'm manually syncing my feeds instead of having it do so at regular intervals, in case that may have been the cause.

I'm not holding my phone in a way that I may be touching the sides of the screen and causing it to misread input (so far as I can tell).

I've tried returning to the feed both via the app's back button and the system back button, with both returning me to a different position in the feed (either up to new articles or down to older ones).

Hello! I recently installed Easer on my android device, and would like to set it up to:

  • automatically turn on DND (do not disturb) mode when I enter my university in certain dates
  • automatically turn off DND when I leave the university in the same dates

what I did is:

  1. create a profile "DND on" and "DND off", each one setting the DND mode to the respecting one
  2. create a condition "mon-fri", selecting weekdays from monday to friday
  3. create an event "university event" setting the location of my university
  4. also create a condition "university condition" with the same settings as the event (because I don't know which one is the correct one to use)
  5. create a script "is weekdays" with no parents and no profile set, "condition" trigger, and assigned "mon-fri" to it
  6. create a script "university in" with "is_weekdays" as parent, profile "DND on", and then assigning "university event" or "university condition" (don't know which oneis better), and setting "recurrent" to true
  7. the same as point above, but checking "inverse scenario" (don't know the exact translation)

when I enter my university, it works correctly, activating the DND mode. The problem is when I leave the university, because it just do nothing, leaving the DND mode on. What am I doing wrong?

thanks in advance!

Hello! I'm currently very very dependent on TickTick (not tiktok) because of a single simple feature: persistent notification alerts. I can set events and tasks as in many other similar apps, but once the reminder is triggered, a persistent notification is showed, until I manually say "mark as completed" or "remind me later". This way I avoid accidentally removing (and missing) it by clearing my notification tray. However, it is closed source and only available on Google Play. I'd like to replace it (if possible) with a FOSS app. Do you know of an app with this feature? Thanks in advance Android folks!

I am looking for a way to delete 1000s of SMS from my service provider pertaining to calls with zero charge. However there will also be some important messages from the same sender. So I cannot delete the whole conversation.

The best option I have seen so far is SMS Organiser but it limits me to only 25 messages at a time.

Is there any other SMS app that can let me do this in one go?

Recently stumbled across a thread where someone recommended the cool NeverTooManyBooks app for helping track one's book collection, and was wondering if there might be similar for other media.

Other media being anything from movies to music to games. I know a lot has gone digital of late, but if anyone's still buying physical, it's the collectors, so I'd hope there might be more apps to help in this regard.

Basically the title, I received a new price with a significant price tag (at least for me). My previous ones I didn’t care much so they weren’t protected. Given that I’d like to keep this one in good shape I’d like to know your experiences: does it still make sense to buy screen protectors nowadays? If so, also on newer quality screens like Gorilla Glass Victus? Thank you for your feedback

Hello there! I'm currently using telegram FOSS from fdroid, and don't have telegram premium. It's okay to have limitations on animated emoji and such, that are limitations imposed by the server, but I really cannot tolerate limitations imposed by the client. I want to rearrange folders. It won't make me do it without premium. Total bullshit. I want to hide the awful ads on channels. It won't make me hide them without premium. Hateful. Is there a client that just removes all thos idiotic antifeatures from the official client?

Anyone else suddenly not getting subscription notifications on Android 14? Is it a ReVanced issue or a MicroG issue? I ask because there's been a lot of updates upstream for MicroG.

Hello there! This is my problem: I'm going to buy a new smartphone, and I'd really like to degoogle myself as much as possible. The idea would be to buy a device compatible with LineageOS, but... Supported devices are usually older models, and often there are newer devices with better specs for the same price, that does not support lineageOS. Is seems a shame to buy a device with lower specs than another one just because of software compatibility. So the alternative would be to buy an unsupported device, unlock the bootloader and debloat it as much as possible, flash privileged fdroid and aurora store on it, install microg, etc... What do you suggest me to do? Is the second alternative a viable option? What other steps should I do if I decide to go that way?

Thanks in advance folks!

So I have some random thrud party head unit in my car that I am pretty sure is just running a customized version of Android 9 and I am wanting to get Android auto working on it preferably wireless but I think it did come with a USB cable if I need it. I've seen a couple things online such as headunit reloaded but they have mixed reviews just wondering if anyone has tried anything similar with any success

I own a Motorola Edge 20 Pro. It came with a 30 Watt Turbopower charger. However when I test the charging speed with the app Ampere I'm getting around 3 amps (max) and four volts with the stock charger.

Is this mormal?

There's an update step that shows "Optimizing apps" during installing a system update normally. It takes a while.

  • What does it do?
  • Is this step skipped when flashing a full OTA via adb sideload?
  • Is there any difference in regards to the effect of "Optimizing apps" between the regular system update process and full OTA flashing?

Audio Loopback App (infosec.pub)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by henfredemars@infosec.pub to c/askandroid@lemdro.id

On many operating systems, I can create audio loopback devices to feed audio files into another app as if it was coming from a microphone. I can also tee off audio going out to the speakers.

Is there an app that lets me redirect audio devices to perform the equivalent of connecting audio inputs and outputs on Android?

Note to moderators: while such a feature can be used for piracy, that is not my goal, and there are better methods if I was trying to be nefarious. I want to use it to feed audio samples from soundboard apps into my active phone call without having to play the sound effects through the microphone. I'd also like to use it to directly supply the output of an MP3 into another app that records my voicemail message for better quality than can be performed by simply recording through the microphone.

I've unlocked all weapons in Vampire Survivors, and I'm too bored to grind the remaining 14 unlocks.

Please recommend me some proper, $10 up-front games.

So when changing phones we got to transfer some data. For that we can use backup and restore tools. Those backup messages, settings, etc. so we can restore the backup on the new phone.

Health connect introduced a local storage for health data. Though it did not introduce a way to backup and restore these data.

I can't believe Google did not think about that so what's the way ?

I'm looking for some game recommendations. I feel like a ton of these games exist but they're riddled with IAP. I don't mind paying a little to buy the game. I have the play pass but so many of these games are active involvement and landscape orientation. I like to have an extra hand free and landscape requires both hands on. But really want passive engagement. Like as soon as I stop playing the game is waiting for me. Example games:

Polytopia

Magnet Balls

Free Cell

Threes

Card Thief

Knights of Pen and Paper

Games like Slay the Spire (but portrait). Although I've never really found a Slay the Spire-like that didn't feel like a watered down version of STS

I've had a humble A10s for several years that has worked well for me but I want to replace it with something a little better and I don't want to go broke either, and besides, I want to emulate some simple Switch games like Hollow Knight, so I've been researching different devices in the $150 to $300 price range and although there are many interesting used devices in that price range (Like the P30 Pro) the one that catches my eye the most is the A71 because it has a Snapdragon 730, an AMOLED screen and between 6 and 8GB of RAM with a 64MP camera and a 1080x2400 display and can be upgraded to Android 13.

Maybe I'm a bit outdated because I don't know much about the phone market, but from what little I know it seems to me that it's a very good device and definitely an upgrade to my current device.

So my question: Why in general is this device so cheap? Is there something wrong with it? I mean, even on Ebay it has pretty acceptable prices when used phones with worse hardware cost more.

And, does anyone know if I can really emulate Switch on it? Either with Strato (Skyline fork) or with Yuzu. From what I've read in some forums and seen in some Youtube videos, it is in theory supposedly able to run Warzone and Fortnite, and even emulate some Switch titles like Smash Bros and having a Snapdragon (which I've read is the best option to emulate) does not have problems of emulation incompatibilities as other processors.

so, i bought a new samsung m04 last week but after some uses, i noticed phone battery drains 1% in every 6/7 minutes. it happens only when i use it, but if i leave it untouched it doesn’t drain. i’m confused and don’t know what to do, i searched for some solutions on google and turned off auto sync, put chrome app (uses lots of battery) into deep sleep, lowered screen brightness but nothing seems to work. I don’t know if it’s normal for newly bought phones coz my mom’s phone battery (realme, using it since last year) is so good no matter how long she watches youtube videos, scrolls thru shopping apps, leave apps unclosed & keep phone data on (mom always forgets to turn it off). i’m thinking about turning off adaptive battery option but i’ll wait and see for some more days. what do you think guys?
