The format of these posts is simple: let’s discuss a specific game or series!

The Steam Autumn Sale is upon us, and I got the biggest amount of games I've ever bought in a single sale: 50!

Let's discuss UFO 50. What is your favorite game in the collection? What game did you spend most of your time on? What do you like about it? What doesn't work for you? Feel free to share anything that comes up and react to other comments. Let's get the conversation going!

If you have any recommendations for games or series for the next post(s), please feel free to DM me or add it in a comment here (no guarantees of course).

Previous entries: Platformers, Uplifting Games, Final Fantasy, Visual Novels, Hollow Knight, Nintendo DS, Monster Hunter, Persona, Monkey Island, 8 Bit Era, Animal Crossing, Age of Empires, Super Mario, Deus Ex, Stardew Valley, The Sims, Half-Life, Earthbound / Mother, Mass Effect, Metroid, Journey, Resident Evil, Polybius, Tetris, Telltale Games, Kirby, LEGO Games, DOOM, Ori, Metal Gear, Slay the Spire

Surprise this meme was another plug for retroachievements

retroachievements

What's retroachievements? Basically it adds XBOX Live style achievements and global high score tables to retro emulation platforms. This added layer of social gaming and community driven accomplishment hunting really builds on the retro games emulation experience. The best part is you can get it running on pretty much any platform you emulate games on, your phone, your deck, your weird android handheld, HTPC, even your lappy-5000.

Since RA adds score and achievement tracking, those of us who game at decisively higher levels and compete for the most glorious prizes imaginable like to use it to track our games. Now is a great time to get it set up, so when the call for challengers comes to Beehaw, you can dive right in.

Here are some of the most fun achievements I have personally gotten.

Batman Returns

Castlevania 3

Arthur's Absolutely Fun Day

Felix the Cat

Anyway, this has been anarchist propaganda, toodles

I recently came across a colorization that turns the original black and white/green version of Pokémon Red for the GameBoy into a proper GameBoy Color title. This sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole, but the sheer number of hacks that have been made over the course of several decades is slightly overwhelming, so I'd love to get a decent first selection by hearing which are your favorites that have improved or transformed console and handheld games in meaningful or entertaining ways.

Thanks in advance!

Playing as a Ghoul (with customizable design and even skin texture) is an endgame experience, as the related quest only starts at level 50. Ghouls will have 'dozens of alternate ways' to specialize their character, according to the developers.

To begin with, they are not only immune to radiation; it actually heals them. If your character is hurt, standing on top of some radioactive material will start healing them. Moreover, once fully healed, the excess radiation will build up into a new resource called Glow. Depending on how the player character is specialized, Glow can provide various effects. Ghouls can also utilize 32 exclusive perk cards on top of those already available for human characters, providing great variety when it comes to character progression.

I'm currently reading the book "Game On!" About video game history, and had to verify.

When initially designing The Sims, Wright spent a great deal of time researching the fan community of the hugely successful Quake and Quake 2. "I was amazed at the time people were pouring into making their own custom levels," he told Wired. "So with The Sims, we wanted to make it possible to modify everything. Players could use it as a storytelling platform."

Yeah punk. Living that 5700g life. Rocking 3700U as a daily driver, what? Yeah I have a fast graphics card, it's called a 780m you might have heard of it from can barely play Baldurs Gate 3 but it counts as playable. Gaming on integrated graphics is cool because it's a lower TDP option for the environment. Fight me. I'm over here playing 2017's greatest offerings at nearly 60fps 720p and I'm enjoying myself. Oh, Cult of the Lamb? Yes, hahaha, I get over 40 fps in Cult of the Lamb. The only other gamers who can @ are switch and xbox series s gangsters. Mortal Kombat 9? Ah, "the good one" of course.

It runs, I'm gaming on it. I don't care bro.

the judgy boomer vibe is fun for memes but let's remember tis the corpos who are actually wasting untold amounts of energy, not you and your 4070, friendo 😘

the level of gaming you can accomplish now at less than 100 W TDP blows me away

a lot of it is happening on old hardware!

Interview: In depth walkthrough of my insane home cockpit panel with BekoPharm and Ozoned

https://makertube.net/w/bufv9BJv2vcXDb3KUaksB7 / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpP7KS1fbrY

@ozoned@video.thepolarbear.co.uk interviewed me on my #homeCockpit on a live stream via his #Owncast instance at https://stream.ozoned.net/. This is a more condensed version of the stream that is still just 1h shy. We're going over almost every feature of my Primary Buffer Panel and I explain how everything works. I also decided to add various photos, slideshows or video snippets during the talk only sections so things don't get too boring. Sometimes that even complements the talks 😄

Ever wondered how to start your own DIY cockpit / SimPit? It's easy. Just watch this stream 🤓

Many years ago me and an old friend co-op'ed Ghost Recon Wildlands, hands down a great game minus the third person perspective, soon after we moved on to Far Cry 5, it felt familiar, like GRWL but published, less outrageous pop in anyway since feeling burned by Stalker 2 I've put a couple of hours back into Far Cry 5 and honestly its still great, looks good, runs amazingly with a game loop thats fairly casual. I have however noticed some bits have changed, the cash shop for one is somewhat front and centre, the added guns and skins and cars look silly af, there is also DLC (I have get to delve into that) anyway I find myself surprised that Far Cry 5 lacks mods, anyway I'm wondering why is there so few, Far Cry 5 would make for a solid base for similar concepts like Anomaly, or Fallout London where they overhaul the story to make something for old players to cling on to.

It might be obvious but I don't play many UniSoft titles, the ones I have played have already been mentioned (fc5, GRWL) and I can imagine people rolling their eyes thinking "another UniSoft game" and if that's the case is there another entry to the franchise with high level modding?

Also I'm glossing abit, its my only experience of a the franchise I'm sure if I played them all I'd be as sick of the loop as everyone else. Anyway what's everyone's thoughts on fc5, the franchise in general, favourite entry and the modding scene for fc, will we witness the death of UniSoft?

There hasn't been a new game in the Marvel vs. Capcom series since Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite was released in 2017. Now, players may have a good reason to come back to that title thanks to an upcoming fan-mod, Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite & Beyond, which gives the game an almost literal fresh coat of paint. Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite & Beyond will be released on December 20 and will only be available on PC.

Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite & Beyond was originally started by a modder called WistfulHopes before the project was taken over by Maximillian “Maximilian Dood” Christiansen, who assembled a team to create new art and music, as well as a throwback visual style that more closely resembles Marvel vs. Capcom 3 than Infinite. The results speak for themselves.
