It's a fork of signal, that doesn't require a phone numbers, and uses a onion network to send messages. It's not as secure as signal, but it's easy as a copy paste buffer between your phone and your computer, if that's your use case

Correct. That's why in my original post, I said depending on your use case, if you just need to pass messages between your phone and your computer, it could be sufficient for you.
