The amount of abuse he has put up with is astounding. All for promoting his research and advocating for action to avert catastrophe. I honestly do no know how he maintains his patience or motivation in the face of it all.

I got to meet Dr Mann in 2012 at a small speaking engagement he did promoting his book "The Climate Wars". He was incredibly friendly and penned a note to my children encouraging them to get into science. A year or so later I emailed him an anecdote about me explaining climate change and climate denial to my then 7yr old daughter. "Those people are crazy" were her exact words. I never really expected him read it let alone respond but he did. No real point to this story other than to relay that he is a real and sincere person who does not deserve the hate he gets from the crazies.
