It helps to realize that you don't always need to go for the optimal. It usually just take an extra day if you don't choose the "correct answer".

For the main party I agree, but I couldn't max the Sun when I played P5 because he isn't available every night and I chose less than optimal dialog

For P5R I made sure to follow a guide for those type of characters

I still had a lot of fun tho
