Edit: Can anyone confirm if this is accurate? I couldn't confirm it.
This is a case of Fun With Commas - Sobeys is owned by a different obscene conglomerate, Empire Company.
Metro, Walmart, Giant Tiger, and Empire are the co-conspirators along with the Weston companies.
Jeazus. EMPIRE company. A little on the nose, no?
You're misreading that comma. It is listing companies the suit is against. "Loblaw and the Weston companies" is one list item, "Walmart Canada" is another, etc.
Oh thank you both! I am SO glad I misread that π. My familiarity with Oxford commas let me down here π
