“Had the US not shielded one side time and again, multiple resolutions of this Council would not have been flagrantly rejected and defied,” Chinese Ambassador, Geng Shuang told the UN Security Council on Monday.

Urging the US to “show a responsible attitude”, Geng called on Washington to “use the significant influence it holds over the party, and take tangible actions to push Israel to cease its military operations without delay, as demanded by the Council resolutions, to give the long-suffering Palestinian people a chance to live.”

Yeah, for once I agree with China. The second Israel started blowing away kids and hospitals, it should have been full stop + sanctions from the USA.

Well we know for a fact that the US doesn't even care about our own children dying. Why would we care about ones on the other side of the planet?

And we keep trying to reduce medical coverage and public funding for healthcare. Hospitals are being closed all over the US.

To be honest, it's on brand.

US blows away kids and hospitals too, seems that little brother just learned from the big one.

[-] kaffiene@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

The US also should not do that

[-] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 weeks ago

Sure, but it's pretty naive to ask them for sanctioning their own unsinkable carrier made by them in their image.

[-] kaffiene@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

I don't think it's naive. It's the view of almost every nation in the world

[-] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 weeks ago

And it's not happened for 80 years no matter what Israel do and it's certainly not happening in the last year of intensified genocide. It's either naive or insincere empty words without actions. The only state with correct stance on this is Yemen.

[-] kaffiene@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

I don't think it's insincere at all. Most nations would like the US to not support Genocide but none of them have the power to force the US to do anything

[-] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 weeks ago

On the contrary, they all have all the power, just no political will because the calculations are pointing even now, on giant losses they will also suffer in case of let's say embargo on US, and not unlikely case of US launching WW3 in such situation. Still they aren't saying that straight and are insincere, even if understandable.

Okay. I live in New Zealand. How do we force the US to not fund Israel?

[-] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmy.ml 1 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

What can NZ do to US? Find alternative supply routes for the current trade with US, embargo it and expell its diplomats until US cease any support for Israel, break diplomatic ties and sanction it. Now NZ alone can't do much, but it can show others it is possible to do even small part of what Yemen are doing (and don't forget that Yemen WON against, according to US military itself "the biggest naval operation since WW2"), so the other sincere states can take the example. And when enough of them will do it, the US as imperialist nation will feel that deeply.

And it isn't even this farfetched, just 10 years ago US hegemony was seemingly solid and now countries like fucking KSA are doing unthinkable things which just 13 and 21 years ago led to destruction of nations trying the same.

Of course we both know that NZ won't do this, just as my Poland also won't, but the reason for that is probably not the subject of this question.

Yeah, but all that AIPAC money would have dried up, so instead we'll tell them to play nice with these new weapons and American tax payer subsidies.

Why fund hospitals at home when you can blow them up abroad?!
