yes you can, and as long as its filled out correctly it will still count.

the only concern is if you want to send some poor ballot counter a medieval unsolicited dick pic

The Darebin ballot paper had quite a lot of blank space on it. Was thinking of writing a poem on it. Then remembered back to when I did data entry for the AEC back in 2004, and realised that papers with ahem 'additions' all get entered manually. Not going to do that to some poor sod manning the keypad.
