Mission for the morning. Queue for the closing day sale at the best pie shop ever. βTis an utter tragedy.
Victory! Well mostly. They are out of almost everything. Anyone not already in the queue will be disappointed.
Out of curiosity I googled "Melbourne pie shop closing down" and.. wow, so many! Too many in the past few years π’(My local is hanging on, but business rental prices in my area have skyrocketed and a lot of shops that have been there for years have closed. Including my beloved computer repair guy who'd been there since 1986 or something.)
These guys itβs both rent and ingredients. They refuse to use shit and would apparently have to charge $14 a pie to keep as is πΏ
That's tragic but also understandable. Working in elite food environments and having a partner who was a chef opened my eyes to a lot of things. If the integrity of the ingredients is paramount to you then it's so hard to compromise for the sake of $.
