Here's where I'm at.
I'm fine if it's a sport. There aren't millions of cars all over the earth doing burnouts, drifting, racing or doing downhill touge, or hitting the land speed record.
But, but, hur-dur tire make smoke!
I agree, I like cars, but tires are expensive, lungs aren't cheap either.
Relative to rich people sailing on superyaghts (just to give an example), these rubber lovers are very small fries. Both are wasteful past times, but when looked at per person, there are way more polluting hobbies than going to car events. Taylor Swift going to meet her boyfriend is another famous example.
I like watching guys build and run burnout cars on YouTube. If you think the tires are the expensive part, man are you in for a surprise.

In this case, yes. These events are not impacting your breathing and the waste is relatively trivial.
Let people have a little fun.
