They still haven't taken my parcels (now 3!) to the post office yet. Not quite sure what they're doing with them. After sending them to Truganina for the night, they sent them through the airport this morning, then at 3pm they were marked as "in transit" at my suburb (which doesn't have a post office, the local post office is in the suburb over). I think they may be holding them hostage
I just want my ABBA vinyl ππ
In better news, the department approved my transition from care funding, and purchased pretty much everything today. They sent me a Kmart gift card for general setup, and I got to choose a table, chairs, and couch. Also hit them up for a dryer, super energy inefficient I know, but I can't stand air/sun dried socks. Everything else, sure no worries, socks, the rough feeling in my shoes all day makes me physically nauseous. That's gonna be my version of avocado toast I guess
(I found a reasonably priced and small enough heat pump dryer, which apparently is the cheapest to run long run, and they agreed. So with infrequent use I'll hopefully be ok)
Heat pump dryers are amazing. I did some baby/housesitting for.q friend on the weekend and used theirs. It takes ages but it was really good and apparently really energy efficient.
Good thinking to ask for it as part of the transition. You should have nice things.
Thanks Greg. Yeah, most out of home care places now have dryers, and always heat pumps. we have a 9kg heat pump that takes about 3-4 hours to dry a half load (half load because that's as much as the 7kg front loader will comfortably take)
The last place had a top loader with a bigger capacity, and the dryer took about 5 hours. Never took note of the weights on them though
Are you going to let us Wishlist you stuff? Or do dodgy gift art?
No. But I will gratefully accept general living tips, or ideas on things I might forget to buy
Fair enough. get a can of bar keepers friend. Lasts forever and fixes most kitchen icks.
Oh, thanks. I usually use Jif for the stubborn stovetop stains
Try this stuff. It's pretty much a lemon & bicarb, just more convenient.
Sensible. Hit us with your queries - there's a wealth of life skills in the DT. Some of which we regret having had to learn the hard way. But we're all still alive and kicking, so must have done something right somehow.
I don't have any specific questions, yet, but if there's anything you think of and don't mind sharing (not that you have to), please reach out!
Will do. Even something as mundane as a doormat - which greatly reduces the amount of stuff that gets trodden into the house. Not a top priority item, but once you've settled in and have done a few cleanings then worth thinking about getting one. There may be one already there anyway.
