was it a real failed coup? Cos I remember Erdogan did a fake failed coup to make a pretense to bring in authoritarian laws and to purge the public service

The president accused the opposition of being north Korean agents (They're not) and declared martial law. Police tried to prevent MPs from entering parliament to vote to end martial law but failed and it voted 190-0 in favour of ending it. The military initially sided with the president and said they'd wait for him and ignore parliament, but then changed their mind and stood down.

People are calling for the president to resign. His party isnt even om his side. It was a failed coup attempt
