So I've ended up with a gift card to one of my most hated shopping places.
David Jones.
Overpriced and almost nothing that interests me there.
One possible thing I could do is use it to buy a laptop bag or am I better off spending my own money and claiming it as a tax deduction?
Can you use it to shop online?
Yeah, from the David Jones website I assume.
Use it like that. I can't stand going into DJ, as the staff is very up themselves.
Thatās fair enough. I canāt really stand going there as well.
wait for the sales and buy online
Wait for sales and buy a gift. I got my friend a $110 chopping board for $50 during a sale. Meanwhile myself I use a $3 tiny plastic thing
Hmm I rather buy 100 dollars of kippers if I could.
š¤£ my breakfast today was two tins of kippers topped with lemon juice, hot sauce and pepper.
I havenāt touched the kippers I bought yet.
I was thinking of throwing them into pasta sauce and eating with pasta.
You've reminded me I could do with some tinned fish for late week dinners this week. As long as it's not stiflingly hot and I can air the kitchen out.
I got a $100 one and bought a bottle of gin.
Ooohh booze. Might have to look into that.
For whatever it's worth, I bought my iPad at David Jones 3 years ago. At the time, stock was very limited - with a 2-week wait time even at the Apple Store. But because nobody thought of David Jones as an Apple seller, they had stock. They charged the same price for Apple stuff as everyone else.
Iāve only got a gift card for 100 so that limits what I can spend there.
Also they donāt sell apple products there anymore.
Does David Jones sell gift cards? Can you use your David Jones gift card to by a better gift card? š
Iāll have to look into it.
I havenāt tried that at David Jones before but have been refused at Woolies and Jb hifi recently.
Got an appliance you've been pondering? It might have just gotten $100 cheaper for you
Not at the moment, bigger airfryer sometimes plays into my mind or a better toaster since mine is halfway not working.
Toaster time! Get a reaaaaal fancy one that does baguettes and shit
Hmm I don't know about that at the moment, I only really need a toaster oven type thing.
Had a convection one but the fan shorted out so it's not as good now.
Can your employer provide a laptop bag? It wonāt hurt to ask. Then the gift card is all yours. Prices are the same as Myer, there no difference between them compared to how it used to be years ago. There will be good sales for Boxing Day, so you can maximise the gift card. Some plush towels? Any kitchen items you need?
I might try asking about that, didn't think about that to be honest.
I don't really know what I need or want from DJ. There's like random things that pop into my head like a new mattress protector or a cotton blanket or coffee related items but it's a hard one.
