Geelong trip was interesting.

I am not going to make such a trip to see the husband's cousins again. I invited them to the gallery and the cafe there, my treat. It's a small place in lovely environs.

The train was cool , fast and efficient.

I meet up and they said there is no parking anyway so let's go to el cheapo shopping mall instead. Even with a denim jacket on I felt over dressed and out of place.

I gave the lovely b'day gift , which was the reason behind the visit. She loved it all.

We had sandwiches at the mall , they paid for themselves, they complained about the price even tho it was super cheap.

After some shopping they took me back to the train station. 🫥

I walked to gallery and gardens, which were beautiful.

There’s no photo of shopping mall

you've seen one tacky westfield you've seen them all

i'm not a snob, i don't mind shops, but not as a social meeting I travel to. Shops to me are utilitarian.

I know.

I forgot to add that once I got to the art district I could see there was open parking everywhere.🤨

( I am quietly seething at being treated so poorly )

At least you found something beautiful to offset your disdain?

not so much disdain but feeling annoyed they thought they could tell me such a stupid lie , their opinion of me must be very low

and yes, the gallery and park was very beautiful 🙂

V/Line trains are so comfy and quiet.

Geelong Botanical Gardens are a must to see.

Those lions, there are a pair, are pretty big and grand and like the lions you see at many of the famous libraries and galleries around the world.

The painting really interested me, it's from the mid 1850s, of a meeting between two men going to the gold fields and a small clan of Aborigines. The Aborigines are wearing possum cloaks with painted markings. They are carrying bags with all their tools and weapons.

The soil is so red, which is just like it is around Geelong, not much grass and the trees are sparse. There are black boy grass trees, which used to be common in western Vic. You can see the Youyangs in the background.

The sculpture is of Ruth, a biblical character.

I’ll have to check the gallery out. I’m often down that way, but often just riding past.

Nice pics! Ruth is real pretty

She's lovely. By her clothes this must be her as a new Jewess after leaving paganism.
