I feel this is more a takeover of Nissan than anything else since Honda's market position and corporate structure is so much stronger.

Oh, I hope so. Honda makes a famously reliable vehicle and does some pretty interesting robotics research. Nissan seems to have a weird "the boss's kid can do no wrong" vibe (based on a few moments from a documentary that was trying to make it seem like a good thing.)

I am afraid the merger will retain the worst of both, as often seems to happen.
