Pest control man came. He couldn't find it unfortunately. He hung up odour absorbent bags, according to the packaging it "doesn't just make odours", it "eliminates them!". Seems a bit ambitious to me. But fingers crossed it works
He said there's definite signs of both mice and rats up there. Droppings and insulation that had been lifted up where they've probably burrowed in to nest. He also said there's a massive hole up there which is where they'd be getting in. Apparently it's so large he didn't even need to use his torch. That's promising, isn't it?
Not a possum which is good. That means the smell should go away in a week or two. But not great he couldn't find it and suspects there are more. And that there's a gigantic hole in the roof

Well I wish you luck. The Stench does recede eventually, so long as it isn't being added to...
Not sure whatβs in the door bags, but possibly activated carbon. It soaks up stinks. You can buy them for home too.
