well .ml is special, most probaboy don't have a problem there but if you do you really do (ask me why the anime community on lemmy.ml is practically dead)

.world is just suffering from success, they regularly have federation troubles with other instances because they are by far the largest one and hence run into scaling troubles. Other than that it's the most reddit like moderation wise also due to being so big. It's courtesy to steer people away from .world simply to prevent the scaling problems from getting worse

I'll be that guy: Use forgejo instead, its main contributor is a Non-Profit compared to Gitea's For-Profit owners

Yeah really not much else needed to be said here. What happened with Crowdstrike is exactly the sort of exploit Kernel Level Anti-Cheat in general has been critized for enabling on consumer hardware.

Also the reason why every company that is consistently 'good' is run privately. If you answer to nobody but yourself you have a lot more room for long term plans

Wait so the malware won't even need a rootkit first? Damn this is worse than I thought...

According to the kernel output on any android phone: yes

Knowing some of the fucks in the EU parliament it certainly won't stop them from trying. It is very reassuring to know that the courts are aware of what fuckery some of the politicians are trying to pull and are actively moving to prevent the abuse from happening.

All this will do is give the EU cause to lock down the loopholes and allowances they put into the regulation the first time around.

It would appear they have not learned from the past (USB C for example)

Well it's getting better, and fast imo. When I started using Linux some 4 years ago I could barely play anything in my library. If the game had online functionality in any way, chances were it didn't run. That has gotten a lot better imo but Proton is still not where it needs to be. But things change and from what I, as a consumer, can see it seems like the biggest problem now are invasive Anti-Cheats rather than anything fundamentally breaking the games.

Edit: but yeah, it sucks when shit ain't working and the small fraction of stuff not working is still a bit much to swallow

Check the modlog for proof, a discussion post about moving this instance to an instance that shan't be named now got removed for "linking to instance featuring pedo content".

Ironically that exact possibility was reason for the discussion in the first place so seeing it happen this quickly is a bit funny.

Not sure how best to go about linking to said instance since it seems to get your content removed. DM's would be the only solution I guess but not sure if those are checked as well.

Let's appreciate the insanity of opening factories in countries with some of the best unions and laws supporting unions and then doing a pikachu face when those unions go and decide to bust your kneecaps for essentially abusing the workers... Elon why did you even open a factory in sweden? It was obvious from the beginning this would happen.

Compromise: Develop it as a Plugin and then install it by default. That way people who don't want the feature can easily remove it completely. That approach would likely also reduce the number of Firefox forks whose sole purpose is to remove the new features some consider bloat.

Tell me again why these hacks get paid so much for "taking risks" when they never end up being fired? I have not seen a single CEO officially fired from a company for driving it into the ground. They always "choose" to retire after fucking up the entire thing and collect a fat paycheck for doing so.
