France has nuclear weapons. And since Greenland and Canada are covered by NATO, they are also covered by the UK's arsenal.

Other NATO countries also have nukes provided by the US, but I don't know how usable they would be in this situation.

Let me tell you about the Persian gulf and the South China Sea.

When the gulf was named by European explorers in the 1580s, Mexico (as a region colonized by Spain) was the most important thing in the main land. Some Spanish maps from the same time period also called it Gulf of New Spain.

An unspecified technical problem forced the Rio-bound Boeing aircraft to turn back shortly after takeoff from Amsterdam. A spokesperson for Dutch air traffic control said the plane requested to land as a precaution and turned around over Belgium some 40 minutes after takeoff.

A new study published in the journal Astronomy & Astrophysics suggests the satellites are emitting "unintended" radiation from the electronics onboard the satellites.
