SpoilerDante from Clerks III

I really resonated with the character and how everything is others peoples fault and he rarely bothered to sort his own life out. Feels just like me! ๐Ÿ˜† So their death in this film really struck a chord with me and I was in floods of tears.

Blue Shift was originally part of the Dreamcast port of Half Life. The game did leak and it was quite fun to experience it on the DreamCast but the problem was the game was in fairly small chunks and had to load off the CD which made the wait quite painful.

I've played through Half Life twice. Once on original release and secondly when it received that big remaster fairly recently. I'm my opinion, it's a fantastic game until you get to Xen and it becomes a bit of a annoying platform fest.

Rage (Xbox360) (feddit.uk)

I've spent four hours playing Rage today via the Xbox Series backwards compatibility. (Is it emulation or real hardware?)

Anyway, for an Xbox360 game I think this looks really good and still holds up today. The speedy loading times certainly help as well.

I did try and play a while ago on the PS3. I don't know if Rage was pushing the PS3 to the limit, but as you turned around, you would catch models and textures loading in. Apparently you could alleviate this a bit by installing an SSD but you're still limited by the PS3's older SATA connection.

Having played this on my Series X, I don't know if the Xbox Series is almost void of this because of the modern hardware or if the Xbox360 version was actually the better machine with this game engine.

I completed Rage 2 a year or so ago when it was given away free on the Epic Game Store and loved it. The original game is essentially the same but on a much smaller scale. It's a balanced gameplay of driving and FPSs sections.

I LOL'd on my first encounter when I've if the bad guys shouted, "Where's that wanker!" ๐Ÿ˜†

The 8 bit guy. I loved his retro computing channel and then one day, he acquired a rare IBM computer and promptly destroyed the power supply by sticking a screwdriver into it (if I remember correctly).

For some reason, I googled about this and discovered he's a gun nut. They're videos of him going grocery shopping with his rifle on his back which apparently he does this knowing it will annoy people.

Unsubscribed from the channel and never looked back.

Then basically there's no point in this shop existing anymore. They're basically toy stores now.

I occasionally look in Game but can't remember the last time I actually bought anything. It would've been a pre-owned title anyway.

Is Electronics Boutique still going? ๐Ÿ˜

I used this for years, from version 1.9 all the way to 5.x when I moved onto other software.

I was wondering if there are any FOSS UK focused news app (Android)?

Yep, those were different times.

Battlecruiser 3000AD. This advert was later revised and they drew black knickers on the model.

Psycho Pigs UXB. Another British classic?

Thunder is my main app and it's updated regularly as well. Jerboa is my second choice because that's the "official" Lemmy app.

I was a big fan of LiftOff!, unfortunately, the developer had twins back in the summer and understandably, the app hasn't been updated since.

We have a problem over at feddit.uk, the sole admin has gone missing and no one has been able to contact him. All we wanted is for a few more people to be made admins then problems could be solved. A new server/instance is going to be created and hopefully everyone on feddit can move over. Unless the admin comes back, it will fall behind in updates and become defederated. This happened once a few weeks ago by lemmy.world but we managed to convince them it was in error and they federated us back in.

I love the first two Hellboy films and also quite enjoyed the 2019 version as well (sorry haters)๐Ÿ˜†.

Much like The Crow reboot, there have been no images released yet so we don't know what actor Jack Kesy looks like as the titular Hellboy.

Back in the old days of 8bit computing, I remember a few magazines used to explain their scoring system.

Most magazines reviewed a game out of ten. A score of five would be an average. The game is just ok. Not brilliant but not terrible either.

A great game would be an eight or nine. Very rarely would a game receive a ten as that indicates perfection.

In today's world, the way people talk, it feels like a game needs at least an 8 (or 80%) or it's not even worth touching.

Dredd had a really poor advertising campaign. I think the first trailer only came out a few weeks before it's release when for other films it's months in advance.

I think the first footage I saw was actually a VFX breakdown that somehow made it's way into YouTube but it didn't stay there long.

There was a big campaign to get a sequel and Dredd on Blu-ray rose to #1 in the Amazon sales charts.

One of the executive producers, Adi Shankar, explained in a YouTube video that he appreciated the effort but the big problem was the box office returns. Everyone who invested made a loss, so no one wanted to invest in a sequel.

Rebellion were going to make a Mega City One series which may have had appearances from Dredd occasionally but I think that project has stalled.

I just checked Wiki and surprisingly there is 15-20 minutes of CGI in Tron. Basically anything that contains a vehicle (light bikes, tanks, recognizers etc) or anything that contains a patterned computer background.

If I remember correctly, Tron was refused any kind of animation Oscar because they used computers and that was considered cheating.

Back in January of 2022, I took a nostalgic look back at the tragic game based on one of my favourite films of all time. I thought I would share it with you guys here. Felt appropriate.

Based on disassembly of the PC DOS version, this port runs on PC, Mac and Linux and features many enhancements such as quick saving and the ability to mod the game including level design.
