Where is this from? I'd be interested in hearing what they're saying here.

Because canonical, who make ubuntu, also make snap. So it gets shoved down your throat. This is why I don't use Ubuntu.

I disagree that the UI/DE/WM is a good way to evaluate a distro. One could make any distro look and feel like any other.

In my opinion one should look primarily at three factors:

  1. Package manager
  2. Release type
  3. Stability

From there just choose either Debian or Arch and install the UI you want with the DE/WM

Windows server, the OS, runs differently from desktop windows. So if you're using desktop windows and expecting it to run like a server, well, that's on you. However, I ran windows server 2016 and then 2019 for quite a few years just doing general homelab stuff and it is really a pain compared to Linux which I switched to on my server about a year ago. Server stuff is just way easier on Linux in my experience.

The other day I was reading some GitHub issues involving an issue I was also having and the maintainer of the project was directing people to their discord server to talk about and hopefully resolve the issue. On top of that, they came back to the GitHub issue and just posted that after some discussion (on Discord) the issue had been resolved. Totally useless to me and anybody else who might be searching for that thing.

Koreans love foreign brands and consume the most luxury brands per capita in the world. These luxury brands are more important here as status symbols than anywhere else I've lived. I'm surprised by this stat because I work in a very wealthy part of Seoul and see many many teslas each day. It's honestly baffling how many teslas I see. But I'm with you: why not buy local? Why buy a Tesla at all?

One random thing that really annoys me is that the site http://shakespeare.mit.edu does not properly forward http requests to https although they have an https version of the site.
