Ich wäre froh über ein solches Angebot von meinem Arbeitgeber, aber bei uns ist die Gewerkschaft ziemlich zahnlos und ohne Rückgrat.

Ich unterstütze das aber vollkommen. Holt euch, was euch zusteht!

It is just unfortunate that it does not run on Nvidia hardware. The benchmark runs if you disable all RTX features, but it crashes on a new game before you even have full control of the character.

Looking at protondb it looks like all people with Nvidia have issues since the 2.0 update. I hope there will be some fix soon. I don't want to replace the GPU yet it would be a waste (2080 Super).

For now I am playing it on my Steam Deck instead.

Hello everyone!

Today I bought a mouse and keyboard for the couch to play some games which are not made for controllers. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to access the Steam menu once I am in-game. The desktop overlay combination does not seem to work (shift + tab) and I don't know what else to try as I don't have anything resembling the PlayStation or Xbox buttons like on my controllers.

Desktop mode itself is unfortunately unusable as Steam ignores the scaling configuration and text is unreadable small on the TV. I just bring this up, because I suspect the overlay combination would work here.

Does anyone know what keys to press in normal big picture esque mode to open any of the Steam menus while in-game?

Thank you!

So what? If BDSM folks feel represented by LGBTQ+ they have every right to be part of it. What's wrong with BDSM anyway?

Not like LGBTQ+ promotes anything at all besides that it is okay to be who you are.

I am surprised that vi is often available, but not vim. It's really annoying on many RHEL based distros, because I am so used to typing vim. Otherwise there is just git I deem essential.

In general it is safe to install as many DEs as you want. There is some overlap between (user) configuration files though which might be annoying.

It should be fine to experiment, but you might need to restore some settings afterwards. For daily use I would just stick to one DE. Personally I don't think there is really a reason to use multiple DEs as a single user. It would throw me off and mess with my workflow.

Also keep in mind that many DE also provide a set of default tools which add clutter. So you probably want to keep it low for this reason alone.

This happens. Recently we had a problem in production where our database grew by a factor of 10 in just a few minutes due to a replication glitch. Of course it took down the whole application as we ran out of space.

Some things just happen and all head room and monitoring cannot save you if things go seriously wrong. You cannot prepare for everything in life and IT I guess. It is part of the job.

Unfortunately they are very in your face unless you fully submit to their view. They belittle your efforts if it is anything but outright revolution, cheer on horrible regimes and deny genocides. Very US centric point of view.

Of course it is not all of them, but that's what you will experience very soon if you interact with them, because it is a radicalized echo chamber let loose.

Our instance actually managed to get defederated from them though. Although it wasn't handled well from either side they seriously only dish out, but can't take a hit. I won't say that nothing of value was lost, because there were a few moderate users and of course some interesting content might be lost, but overall my lemmy experience got better without them.

Python is stupid. Using non printable characters as anything other than token separation is just asking for trouble.

If people ask me what distro to choose I say Mint.

Unless you already know what you want and need it is simply the best distro out there to get your feet wet. It is very competent in what it is doing and can be used by anyone no matter the experience.

Even though I believe there are better distros out there this is the only one I would recommend to people new to Linux and it is still a solid choice for experienced users alike. You can use it forever or branch out from there, both are very valid choices.

No, I don't use reddit anymore. Kinda. I sometimes visit Reddit due to search results. Otherwise there is not much I miss or care about.

The content isn't as plenty here, but it is still giving me my mindless scrolling fix.

The part you see isn't mold, but the spores. Mold almost looks like spider webs and it is very hard to see without a microscope. If there is anything visible it means the actual mold had already grown much further and deeper. As others have said you can cut of the visible part plus an inch or so for hard cheese (and some vegetables or apples), but for other cheeses or food it is a no. Throw it all away. At that point it already spread throughout most of the food.
