"We're cheaper" - Literal Slavers

[-] BlameThePeacock@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

The ghg emissions piece is a load of bullshit.

If we're going to count the trees, BC is extremely net negative carbon even with the wildfires because our massive forests suck up carbon like a sponge.

The carbon in forests is short term storage, and just part of the regular carbon cycle of life. Which is why we mostly ignore it and only focus on the carbon released from sources that have been tucked away for millions of years (oil and gas)

The first one is in New Jersey, not Canada. The US has 5 times more prisoners per capita, and 10 times our population. Examples from there may never happen here at all.

That second article says Canada already changed the policy for offenders with a history of sexual offenses against women.

So... You haven't really shown any reason to change the policy further in Canada.

I've yet to hear of a single incident in Canada that would lead to this being necessary.

Plenty of guards fucking the women though...

Nothing but political theatre from the PP

Most haven't been around for 25 years yet, but here's a study on german panels at 16-20 years showing they're just fine.

You can simple google it. It's considered common knowledge at this point.

Solar panels have been out for a long time, they definitely last more than 6 years. You can easily look this up.

The warranties are usually 25 years at this point.

Maybe do some research instead of using your feelings to make every decision, you'll get a better result.

Most of the machines are limited by staff, not equipment in terms of overall load. They may be fully in use during peak times, but that's mostly because it's convenient to book people for non urgent appointments during the day.

I was in the ER for 14 hours a month ago waiting to see the doctor, but I had my xray within 20 minutes of arriving at triage, and a CT within a half hour of a doctor looking at the xray and deciding I needed more imaging.

It's the same thing with things like operating rooms.

As much as I dislike private health care, for something like an international sports tournament I almost think fifa should just give a bunch of cash to the health ministry so they can have extra overtime staff on shift, and those staff can treat normal patients during that period unless they are needed for the athletes. That way everyone benefits and it all stays within the bounds of the normal system here.

When this happens, it means the laws that enable these people are no longer acceptable to the people. That's a dangerous place to be.

Sizeable earthquake just off the coast.

The party of fiscal responsibility ya'll

They say it will be caught up to with growth, which they've predicted to be above 5% per year... no way that happens, major banks are predicting sub 2% growth.

He stands by the party member who made derogatory comments about indigenous and Muslim people.

Please judge him and find him wanting.

The title is a bit misleading and makes it sound like it's a one time payment. It's very different, he's promising to exempt up to $3000 a month towards your housing costs from income taxes. Starting at $1500 a month in 2026 and going up $500 a year for 3 more years. At the max, it would be a $36,000 a year tax deduction which is absolutely massive, that's half of the average family income.

Great idea? It's complicated, but probably not a good idea.

When you make something "cheaper" for everyone like this in a supply constrained market, all that does is drive up the prices of rents and housing sale prices since people can now use that freed up money to pay more for those.

Also, his plan to pay for this multi-billion dollar plan is:

“Obviously, we need to take a look at this reckless spending that David Eby has put in place in terms of how to sort of rein in some of that spending,” said Rustad.

So that's not really "fiscally conservative" at all.

This asshole is literally a conspiracy theorist. He says it was about controlling the population, not stopping the spread of the virus.

Which countries (and even provinces) had the fewest covid deaths per capita? Oh.. the ones with the highest vaccination rates.

Everyone with a brain knows vaccines reduce illness, that's why we have the fucking things.

Uber's reply to the new laws.

Surprise surprise, a Conservative who's got a past full of hate.
