I've had this conversation SO MANY TIMES with people outside the American empire that it's taught me that it's a waste of time w such a thoroughly propagandazed westerner sympathizer like you; but I'm bored atm so why not? Maybe I'll learn something new?

Your argument’s horse is dead. Your argument’s position was shown to be false this election. Leftists didn’t vote for Democrats in 2024

As they haven't since (in totality) since 2012 because of things like Obama's drone strikes and the botching of Obamacare. Leftist haven't voted for democrats in over 12 years and will not again until Democrats wake up to see how the DNC is gaslighting them.

and now Democrats are catering to moderates and conservatives who voted.

The conservatives didn't vote for Democrats; they haven't since the 1960's and never will again. And despite Democrats repeatedly failed attempts to peel away voters from the GOP in 1988, 1996, 2004, 2016, & now 2024. The DNC will try again in 2026 and 2028 and MAYBE Democrats disdain for Trump will change the tide.

Democrats are not catering to leftists. I recommend you get of your dead horse. Until then we will be ruled by fascists.

Yes, correct, 100%; leftist have not voted Democrat since Obama and democrats will continue to insist that they should anyways; futily so. That's an internal Democrat/DNC issue for them to figure out why democrats are not voting for the Democratic platform.

As long as we still have elections, leftists will learn to vote for the most left leaning viable mainstream political party

Incorrect; As I said: leftist started leaving the Democratic fold back in the early 2000's. So now it's only the Democrats caucusing with the Democrats and they've decided that their caucus is correct and that anyone else must fall in line and no one is falling inline; not even your fellow democrats.

or they will watch fascists kill us all with death camps and climate change. Unfortunately it’s not enough for bad things to happen to people to learn their lessons.

Yes; it's the Weimar Republic all over again and simoly because the DNC believes that everyone must accept their platform; willfully ignoring that their platform is just as unpalatable as the republican's platform; full fat facism and diet facism both suck.

The leftist have left behind knowledge on how to survive the Weimar Republic in writing; have you read it and has it taught you how to be ready for what's coming next?

I recommend you take the time to understand how the 2024 election disproves your argument’s position. No amount of bad election outcomes, death, or destruction of the planet will do that thinking for anyone.

Correct: so long as democratics continue to assume that they've the adults in the room despite how fowl their platform is dooming us all.

Studies have shown that new evidence that contradicts a person’s beliefs is both as painful as physical pain and is not effective at changing a person’s position in the short term. People have to take the time to internalize that they were wrong. If we start now people should understand they need to vote for Democrats by the 2026 and 2028 elections.

DEAR PLEASE GOD!!! Take the next logical step and realize that the Democrat platform so SO UNPALATABLE that not even your fellow democrats will vote for it and that your expectations of other parties accepting it are just as realistic as any republican accepting it; no matter how similar you think they are!

The DNC has been trying to peel republicans aways from the GOP since the 1980's and it has always failed like it did in this election; they will continue to try again in 2026 and 2028 and it may buy time because of Trump; but it's only a matter of time for our respective ruling classes adapt to reality.

If leftists cling to accelerationism in 2026 and 2028 we will see the rightward trend of the Democrat party continue. Accelerationism makes it harder to fix things by allowing them to get worse while learning nothing.

Aka: Rinse and repeat 🙄

Let's both hope your democratic non-voter buddies are pissed off enough at trump during the next cycle to show up and vote this time, because leftists definitely won't if the dnc keeps going rightwards; again.

I can understand how daunting of a task it may seem to get your own people to vote from where you're sitting on a horse so high that you're unable to understand that you've bought into an alienating stereotype of your most needful allies to defeat the trumpers, but I have faith that Americans will come to see how we keep shooting ourselves in the foot; eventually.

This was absolutely the last holiday for visiting parent.

same here for my family.

i get that we need to build bridges to bring us back in from the political wilderness in this country; but there's something to be said about finding a balance between trying to help the people you care about and preserving your own well being. especially when you see the a particular beloved member of a younger generation getting sucked into the overwhelming nature of that tribe for the first time and simultaneously recognizing that there's nothing you can do about it and that all of your efforts have been in vein.

this past xmas break has made me wish that i was as smart as my sister is when she warned me that it's best to keep a friendly & welcoming distance from them decades ago; permanently. i became invested in my nephews & nieces (like i did their parents and my own siblings) and now i know that i will have to watch another procession of an entirely new generation of my family members laugh & meme at the tankies while unhappily assuming their roles as capitalist cannon fodder to the point of self harm & recycling generational trauma that their grandmothers and I had to endure. all the while proudly proclaiming that everything will be fine (eventually) because they will always vote blue no matter who and will soon be the majority.

a third of us are trumpers now and the rest still won't/can't see it 🤦

What about US Citizens of Mexician ancestry that are dealing with shitty ICE agents that refuse to recognize their citizenship?

This has happened many times in the recent past and, like then, you're on your own. Check to see if you qualify for Mexican citizenship so that you at least can lean on them for some help.

Also consider supporting organizations that don't make it worse for people like us; your primary instance literally permits white erasure posts.

When did Korean literacy become so common for soldiers that it's possible for this to accidentally happen?

[-] eldavi@lemmy.ml 16 points 1 day ago

the lack of votes is because the democrats suck; telling them to vote wo addressing the reasons why they don't vote is a waste of time.

the ending was sus af (which is why i wanted the full video); but the document and this provision is real.

i was aware that social media was just as compromised as legacy media as evidenced by facebook and reddit's efforts to section off news/developments about this case into an easy to control and highly moderated "smoking sections" and i hope that .world's version isn't the same thing.

i suspect that it is because the other sites use the same talking points that to justify its existence. eg: "it was organically user driven in nature" or "to help guard against misinformation"

my version of this are blue-eyed chaotic bottoms and now i feel very attacked. lol

degrasse tyson is not better than einstein and paul wasn't the son of god; they understood the message and made it amenable to their respective generations.

[-] eldavi@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 day ago

i'm aware and i made my comment because yours is in sound-bite-able form.

this part of mlk jr's message is easy to ignore because of its somewhat antiquated/stuffy prose and maga has educated all of us of the effectiveness of easy to digest soundbites in american political discourse.

mlk jr couldn't have said it better himself.

FASCINATING AF perspective suggesting that luigi is a member of the class that benefits from our system, but rejected it out of ignorance because he (and most younger people like him of that class) identify with the systematically violated poor due to luigi (and others like him) mostly not consuming the mainstream, legacy media that re-enforces the system.

due to this, the real danger for the ruling class is not he 99%; but rather their younger generations who are siding with the violated poor out of ignorance that they will inherit the reigns of this system because the ruling class has focused so much on sending the message that the system is invincible to the poor, that they unwittingly have given their own younger generation the same message thanks to the internet & social media.

each time the ruling class responds with zealously overwhelming force to protect the system and shore up that sense of invincibility; it becomes more self-defeating since it prods their younger generations to rail against the system even further until luigi; as a member of that predatory ruling class; used his class' privileged perspective to take the kind direct action that's not available to the poor.

if true, i think this explains why all of the super powers have been working so hard to curtail internet access and social media presences that don't tow the official narratives like tiktok and maybe explains why so many of the ruling classes' young, like hasan piker, have such strongly leftists views despite their immensely wealthy background.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib: “But Palestinians are not just numbers. Behind these numbers are real people — mothers, fathers, sons, daughters — who have had their lives stolen from them and their families torn apart. And we should not be trying to hide it. These are innocent children and babies who have been bombed in their tents, burned alive, dismembered and deliberately starved to death. Where is our shared humanity in this chamber? There is so much anti-Palestinian racism in this chamber that my colleagues don’t even want to acknowledge that Palestinians exist at all, not when they’re alive and now not even when they’re dead. It’s absolutely disgusting. This is genocide denial.”
