For me it was seeing a news article montage showing literally the exact same headlines from 2016 about Hillary Clinton. It’s just the same play from a tired playbook.

Why did you even post that if you had no clue what you were talking about?

I actually think they are currently all going south. This increase in ads is just one part of the fall I think.

The didn’t make 420m in profit, they lost 124m.

This is definitely not the universal term all americans would go by. Many even find it offensive.

Personal data isn’t only used for ads. In this case a users watching history can be sold especially if it’s connected in some way to a demographic profile. There could be many more ways to monetize many other things the user does.

I’m honestly not sure what you’re talking about here. The unix philosophy is something informal that applies to compiled utilities that run usually in a bin/ directory. The philosophy isn’t attempting to apply to all software that exists and certainly doesn’t intend to apply to browsers or browser extensions.

You just compared a browser extension and an init system that takes proc id 1. The unix philosophy is about what runs as processes at the system level.

The article doesn’t have pictures or mention why there were no barriers, which I think this person is asking.

[-] mikegioia@lemmy.ml 6 points 1 year ago

The article just says there were no barriers placed. There were no pictures but it mentions Snow Creek Lake in North carolina as the location if you want to map it on google.

Uhhhh isn’t this pretty massive news? Or am I missing something?

This is really exciting, I’m obviously skeptical like others but I’m also very hopeful about this.

Greetings, I come as an Ubuntu/Unity user and what has kept me around is the wonderful support for a 3x3 virtual desktop setup and hotkeys to move around the desktops in 2d space. Does anything like this exist in any of the modern DE’s? I would love to try it out with cinnamon, plasma, gnome etc but there are so many and I only seem to find screenshots depicting linear desktops.
