Cool. Reminded me of a quote by Karl Marx that I saw referenced in lemmy. Searched for it:

Men make their own history, but they do not make it as they please; they do not make it under self-selected circumstances, but under circumstances existing already, given and transmitted from the past. The tradition of all dead generations weighs like an nightmare on the brains of the living.

Which app would you recommend/suggest?

Thought about it, snce it's near New Year's.

In my opinion, exercising/training/stretching atleast once a week would be a good thing for most people.

[-] Achyu@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 3 days ago

Aah. Fixed that

Is this a movie reference?

[-] Achyu@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 4 days ago

Indeed.
I had read an article that said that black cars may be more likely to get into accidents, citing some study. Not sure if it was confirmed by other studies, but it seems to be a good point to consider.

[-] Achyu@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 4 days ago

True.
Have you noted any places where colour would matter?

Been thinking about replacing the current smartphone, as the touchscreen seems to be failing(Screen replacement seems to be not so economic).

Saw different colours being offered. Black, White, Blueish and Greenish colours were common.

Does the external body colour affect the efficiency of the phone? Like, in heat going out or going in? Or the ease of cleaning it? White colours seem to show presence of dust etc?

And are there other places where the colour matters?
I've read that white roofs generally have a lower heat gain than other ones(without infrared reflecting paint).

Don't waste food is a decent general point tho(assuming that the food is decent).

But yeah, dealing criticism, that is meaningful, with 'lack of appreciation' doesn't fix stuff.

Not sure about css, but Lemmy works on mobile browsers too, right?

I have lots of them and arranging, finding or deleting is tricky sometimes. The search option in bookmarks is cool, but I can't select and edit or delete bookmarks using it.
Currently I sync bookmarks with a pc and then rearrange it and sync back.

How do you do it? Are there any other settings or techniques you use or know of?

Thanks in advance

I use Gboard, as I'm on Android.

Do you use Gboard or the clipboard feature? Or use a similar feature of an other keyboard app?
Do you use apps like NetGuard or TrackerControl to restrict net access to the keyboard apps?

Have tried some FOSS apps some years ago, but didn't stay on them because, Malayalam(my mother tongue) and the handwriting mode(which is quite good), is not available in most other apps.

I had thought about turning on the clipboard history option and am thinking about the privacy/security aspect behind it. As per Gboard, it remembers history for 1 hour and there seems to be no sync option. So it seems sort-of safe. Thinking about such things since I do copy-paste OTP's.

Recently downloaded the phyphox from F-Droid and thought about this while thinking about what all stuff I could do with it.

Are there any online resources about such stuff?

What all things have you(or people you know, in your locality etc) done along that line?
And not only big thigs, if you're tracking other stuff, please do share your experience on that too.

Edit:
Sharing the github page of the app too:

Have searched about it on the net and have seen that WPA2/WPA3 is recommended, in the case of older devices n IoT.
I normally use the hotspot to share internet to other devices. They're not too old and I don't use IoT devices.

Would choosing WPA3 be better/faster for my case? Did not see much info on that or benchmarks about it?
Saw somewhere that WPA3 has more overhead because of greater encryption, but would plain WPA3 be better than the default WPA2/WPA3?

Thanks in advance

Not just asking about lemmy communites(would be cool if there is one), but other websites, forums etc.

If you know any good youtube channels, please share them too. When I searched for stuff, it's mostly 5 min craft stuff.

Actionable stuff that most people would benefit from, the simpler/easier, the better.

Meme templates that are made from material that is licensed under creative commons or other copyleeft licenses?

Are there any communities or websites that collect/list them?

Both about a new topic or a topic that you already are interested in.

There are TIL communities here on lemmy and they are good, but mostly not about using the info to do things.

Any websites, rss feeds, youtube channels, lemmy(or other site) communities etc. that you subscribe to for that?
And going beyond online stuff, any books or publications or groups that you like?

Recently started using mail merge.
Combined it with some vba scripting(didn't learn it well, just found some scripts on the net and modified them a bit) so that I could get pdf files for emailing by clicking a macro button from an excel sheet.

Also, go to use the info about the keyboard mouse right click button when someone's Right Mouse Button was not working. https://www.online-tech-tips.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/Windows-Right-Click-Button.jpg

I mentioned only computer things because of recency, but please do share your experiences in other topics too.

Started doing simple dumbbell exercises recently and was curious about what others are doing.
Been trying simple neck exercises too. No weights, just chintucks and isometrics.

Please do share your experience/suggestions/opinions on the it and related topics like sports, calisthenics, general physical health etc.

Do you know any exercises that are rare? Or ones that seem special to your locality?

Regarding food:
How do you meet your protein or calorie goals? How do you track it? Especially food that is local to your place.

On a tangent:
Are there cool plants that are less known or that'd be useful if more people tried growing and including them in their diets? Do mention your locality or climate of the plant.

I do get things done. But sometimes I think that I could have started some things early, avoid rush. Also a sort-of negative perfectionism that does the opposite, where I end up delaying the start while thinking about the best time to start and how to avoid possible trouble etc.

How do you categorise and adjust accordingly about such stuff?
If you are someone who got out of or reduced such behaviour(or helped someone to do that), what were the things that you/they did? How did you/they start out and progress etc.

Thanks in advance

Recently?

How a lawyer in America got jailed for legally fighting against(and defeating) an American multi-national oil company that polluted the Amazon and more importantly harmed the lives and health of the locals with the pollution.

They are taught about it from childhood and many of us don't questions stuff we've learnt in our childhood.

Education fails to instil scientific temper in them

Lack of proper mental health awareness and support.

Isn't that generally said by countries that oppose them?

The land of the less authoritarian had race discrimination until half a century ago, right? Seeing the BLM, it seems to have a prominent role even now. So are they any better?
