There are trends - this video explains it well. Trump will reshape America, he will cement power and make sure it's much easier for MAGA to succeed in future (making it easy, rigging the system, for them to be re-elected).

You are entering a new authoritarian regime in the USA.

Many folks voted Trump because they don't trust politicians, they don't trust Democracy, and now they get what they want - Democracy takes the biggest hit in history - and it's not because of Trump, it's a worldwide trend - there have been no new Democracies for a good many years already.

Project 2025 (which Trump laughably kept saying 'I never heard of it, I never read it' - he's laughing his tits off, he loves the lower class working Americans, he loves Americans with low education... because they just signed him into power thinking he gives a toss about them - he doesn't.

He hates them, he hates women, he's racist, misogynistic, a criminal and a liar.

Project 2025 is a right wing manifesto - opposing abortion and reproductive rights, even outlawing FDA approved safe drugs used in medical abortion... reviving 19th century extreme right wing laws.

Also opposing LGBTQ rights, opposing immigrants' rights, a racial manual for reorganising the entire federal government to serve a right wing agenda.

You will see now mass raids, deportations, an end to birthright citizenship, breaking up families and dismantling asylum.

Trump will also work to bring in power of warrantless surveillance - to be exploited to spy on Americans and their data... radically expanding executive power and making a mockery of American's idea of having freedom.

Trump will also use executive authority to limit First Amendment freedoms, he will have power to mute the press, also damaging fair replresentation in the voting process (he said - you won't have to vote again, with a wry grin on his face).

Watching Trump you can see he's TELLING YOU what he plans to do, laughing at you for being stupid, because he knows you don't take it seriously.

Basically, it's the fascist's playbook - and you voted this POS into power.

So what is the answer?

Maybe push for laws - the purchase of a plastic bottle include 25 cents surcharge on the bottle.

Then you can toss the bottle in the street, and the homeless can scavenge for bottles and make a decent wage for a day's work - and still there's enough left over to deal with the plastic.

I'm struggling here to avoid being offensive - but really, Americans often appear to me to be averaging subhuman intelligence.

Yesterday I was reading about Latino MAGA's who just assume Trump isn't talking about them...

I talked to a guy from Springfield - and he says personally he doesn't think it will make any difference to him whichever one gets in, because right now it's just talk.

So his idea basically is that whoever he votes for, he'd gonna get screwed over again... this is the decline of democracy and the rise of the post-truth politicians... in many ways, watching Trump is like watching Putin's mill putting out news - all fake and contradictory news helping to convince that all news and politicians are fake.

Is this thread intended for 1. Android/mobile users 2. iOS/mobile users 3. People with computers/mouse/keyboard or what? It seems most Lemmy threads are pretty exclusively aimed at mobile users.

Haha marketing is what it is... a joke I made up some 30 years ago was that, despite what we see on the surface - the evidence proves that women are disgusting, dirty, fat, ugly animals that need a vast array of products to be created so that they can go outside without offending everyone...

So yes, you're right to find this ridiculous and offensive - but at the heart of it is simple greed, which is the real meaning of the American Dream.

I think YouTube is dying.

Already, I see many of my favourite channels being restricted (one Ukrainian blogger) whilst the completely moronic, yet dangerous conspiracy theory/Flat-Earthers flourish.

Meanwhile, the most common thing we see is the push to sign up and pay them - yet with all the censorship (not simply censored for non-paying customers to allow the advertisements) it is not a viable option.

Thankfully I still use a Desktop - with Firefox and decent extras the actual ads are still not affecting me at all, but YouTube's policies really are.

They are completely above the law - they don't need to respect their own TOS (the reasons many people are blocked is more related to some secret narrative, and it goes against their own stated terms).

There is no way to appeal outside YouTube, and good luck with any idea of taking them to court for removing your income stream, or censoring a very useful source of information whilst spamming you with algorithms that treat you like Spongebob, and expect you to watch completely moronic content.

I suggest YouTube is a conspiracy to destroy the world, starting with the world population's ability to think.

Convince me I'm wrong ;)

There are a couple of things here... firstly you're thinking about him being with someone else - that's not just a 'breakup', that's worse.

Anyway, I found relaxing to be difficult so I went out and did stuff - also I just met lots of friends and tried not to be on my own. During my last breakup, I had someone to meet every day after work for a week - and that put some distance which made it easier.

That all depends on how, and the context in which it's done. My first girlfriend would spend hours tickling my back in between sessions - I never forgot those sunny days.

Now with more aggressive tickling - it is akin to a violent attack, and my father used to tickle me until I couldn't stand it, and then push some more. Often it ended with me in tears... so with my son, sometimes I'll grab a foot and start tickling it like mad - but I have a MUCH shorter cutoff time so that it ends with him laughing.

So it's not simple - but consent is a huge issue.

So really, it's not just me that found him to be producing smarmy and careless content? My first views were of his various challenges - where they consistently 'proved' that people can't do things in an OS that they don't have experience with, which means they'd be better off doing it in a much worse OS that they used since they were kids - and therefore it's better.

I really liked Nexus's video - though it didn't help me as I wouldn't waste time on LTT. I don't like or trust these coroporate video mills, any more than I trust Google/Youtube - they don't give a toss as long as the money flows and they didn't get sued.

I still need someone to fully explain to me why they want some way to pretend a website is an application.

Especially as, when I tried using PWA (so I could open, for example, Lazada PWA as if it was a specific application instead of just Lazada running in Firefox) the only benefit was that - erm - it worked in it's own profile, without any add-ons from the main browser profile.

For this, I can simply use the WebApp manager https://github.com/linuxmint/webapp-manager - yet I find that right now I only have a single one which is in use (that's the Plex Web interface which I bound to open with a mouse gesture).

Take that away and - well, I just hit menu, type 'ple' and see the Firefox bookmark - Enter to open that.

Hardly really worth the resources and efforts for a tiny minority when a browser is struggling to survive.

Disclaimer: I'm a noooooob.

I am logged in to lemmy.world.

I have a feed (Beehaw Local) which I open in a new tab about Reddit affecting Google. with the beehaw.org URL (so I'm not logged in or registered) posted by someone at lemmy.world.

If I follow the @ lemmy.world link, I'm still inside Beehaw, same goes for the Technology link.

My confusion is that I can't see how to open and interact with that post without making a separate Beehaw account.

Why am I so stupid on this platform?

[-] BendyLemmy@lemmy.world 21 points 2 years ago

Well, despite the difficulties translating to Federated platforms, I will certainly be working on alternative social platforms.

I no longer use Quora or Facebook...

I unsubscribed my 'YouTube' channels and added them as RSS feeds, so there's no need for me to be signed in there to consume content from creators I follow.

I hope that a month or two with the Fediverse will allow me to understand it better. I'm sure that many Fediverse users will also remain on Reddit and be able to advise folks on what to do.

If anyone on, for example, r/firefox announced activity over here, I'd follow them here. So whatever the 'bots' say, I know what's occurring in my corner.
