It's not an actual promise so don't act pedantic. The point is- society was sold these concepts and ideas as solutions to existing problems, and they've instead become bigger and more expensive problems.

Hey all, I've not really noticed that I haven't been getting notifications due in part because I haven't been using Lemmy for long, and 2 - Sync is still in its early stages as well, working out the kinks.
Sync doesn't seem to have comprehensive notification settings, but even with what its got, I've realized I'm not getting notifications at all.
Anyone else?
They're referring to what you have observed, you are looking for and wanting to see Iphones.

Because although other apps have some of the features of Sync - none have all.
It's really as simple as that, in conjunction with the familiarity aspect. Why fix what ain't broke?
They may not be your feature set, you may not care if a developer is active with your community, but many do.
Can't wait to delete all the other lemmy apps I've been trying. Most do most things well, but none do everything well like Sync.

The long and short of it - Google search was designed at a time when the web was in its infancy. Basically just text and a few images.
Fast forward to today, and reddit is the only one that still allows its data to be crawled.
As media has become more social (basically all of it) the walled gardens prevent you from even viewing content without an account.
Every platform wants you to be searching inside their service.
Google is useless.
