Those who buy apple products deserve each other.

Contrary to many in here, I don't think this will cause another exodus from reddit. those who might be concerned by this have already left or reduced their time on the platform

Disclaimer : I am a hobbyist programmer, I have not gone to Uni for that , so I might not know everything I am talking about.

My question is why don't open source programs include something like diagrams of the algorithms they employ ?? I Was looking for algorithms for a chat program with client-server architecture, I was hoping to find diagrams and descriptions of how algorithms work, so a to study them an adapt them to my needs. All I found were FOSS projects with no such documentation.

Considering that reading source code can take a long time, and sometimes interesting projects are written in a language the user isn't familiar with, I was wondering why such documentation style doesn't exist ? It could help even newer contributors get started quicker.

Is there a way set a filter to block posts with that keyword in the title or description ??

I had enough of posts about a certain personality living rent free in the minds of many, I am just fed up with that. if it isn't possible, I hope developers will work on this feature soon !

GDPR was designed around the "Do not Track" browser flag, so that websites can get a semblance of consent using those annoying cookie prompts, with dark patterns like hiding the "Decline All cookies" inside the second page of the prompt, or using very small fonts and gray colors + very confusing language. and they have carried on with complete impunity for 5 years now.

Some people get high on destroying other people's lives. I am not sure we are getting close to humanity 2.0 we are stuck at 1.0 stable.

In the 2000(s) messengers used to warn you not send phone numbers to your chat correspondents. now without giving out your phone number you can't use those messengers

Britain has planted the seeds of hatred and bloodshed in the middle east and is now acting as if it has no responsibility towards resolving the conflict.

It is hard to watch the British media coverage of this war acting all outraged and surprised by the violence while being proud of their historical imperial inheritance .

Almost everything apple does nowadays is a marketing front, repairability, privacy, not including chargers, accessories and removing the headphone jack for the sake of the environment, and more to come.

This has gone become unbearable especially when Youtube doesn't provide a language search filter. fishing for more clicks is ruining the user experience.

Youtube should do something about that.

Is it against YT TOS or did they take the liberty with this decision

Second, as much as I have always found him sketchy and a very irritating person, I am very alarmed by the erosion of people's right to be presumed innocent until found guilty. even when I know that he is quite capable of the committing those allegation

Is it to lure men into paying for more private pictures or subscribe to their only fans ? Who's falling for this ?

I am referring to bot profiles with pictures of asses in thongs front and center, commenting with platitudes on high traffic video, especially news channels.

Recently I binge watched Abbot Elementary, and I couldn't get enough of it, watched the British version of ghosts and it was quite good too.

I have tried "what we do in the shadows" and it wasn't to my liking.

What are your suggestions about a light comedy series of the same genre ?

Hi I am looking for a **free ** game with simple mechanics, competitive and online is a plus. plus suggest games that don't require steam, I don't want to install that software

I used to play vanis.io but people spoiled it by playing in teams while I like playing solo, while other games of the genre (slither, agar, paper.io) couldn't stick with them

I played mindustry, and wasted tens of hours, until I found out That I was playing campaigns without having unlocked enough research to beat the master, the game didn't have the right mechanisms to orient me to the winnable campaigns, and I ended hating it for that.

I am a simple guy looking for a simple game to distress (not candy crush simple)

I was looking at buying a new android device with either android 12 or 13. and I wasn't ready to see how all phones shipping with these versions have forced sign-up using a mandatory phone number. the step cannot be skipped , and workarounds are very tedious and sometimes require a PC.

Where is the EU when you need them. how is it acceptable to force people to sign-up to your spying software when they want to acquire a smartphone?

Are there no laws in place to forbid this type of bundling between hardware and forced subscriptions ??

Are there any privacy non profit organization that can take them to court ?

Hi I found out that it is possible to create a thread on a lemmy community using a mastodon account by mentioning the community handle. but the process is quite undocumented and unknown to many of us.

How Can I make a thread with a separate title and post body from an app like tusky?

how to make the community @ mention not appear on the title ?

Are there any propagation problems to be aware of ?

sometimes the post doesn't show on the community feed, or takes too long to show, or shows from another instance quicker than the one I have posted in. the post might have the correct creation timestamp but fails to show up on the lemmy community promptly.
