I think he is wrong because being informed and aware of what has happened in the world does not equate to "mentally masturbating to disaster porn". We do have a real problem with sensationalized media, but the solution is not to just be uninformed...

I sometimes hear similar logic as an argument against things like funding science research: "Why spend money and time on a deep space observatory? We can never get to those places in space anyway"

It didn't happen to me personally, so it's fine! Stop paying attention!!

Or the cops fabricated it to close the case because they have zero leads

FYI they only rolled back that change in one single state. The change will still happen in other states.

Doesn't look like him. Super convenient that the gun can't be traced so we just have to trust the cops that it really was his, and that he was just out walking around with the gun and a manifesto, just days after, when anyone would be lying low?? Not buying it.

Yeah, so the thing is, any amount of trust that I had has already been completely destroyed. "We don't do it anymore because it's illegal, trust me bro" isn't going to cut it. Does the bill include mandatory prison time for executives for violations, or just cost-of-doing-business fines? Will this be enforced by a government regulatory body that is not literally outnumbered 20:1 by car manufacturer lawyers?

If the car has any kind of network capabilities and 100% of the car's software is not open source, I'm not buying it. Period.

This bill would not need to exist if cars were FOSS, or if cars were non-networked. Those are the only 2 solutions that I will accept. This bill is worthless to me.
