Here in the UK we would say "I will visit you on the 19th of September" for example. I have never heard anyone say the month first. It's just different custom. We also drive on the other side of the road..! At the beginning it would have been helpful if the world would have agreed on a standard either way. Then it would stop confusion. (And less car accidents from people on holiday/vacation on the wrong side of the road! ๐Ÿ˜…

There is a lot of truth in this picture. 2 sides, both shit for humanity. It's a big problem really.. Divide and conquer tactic.. proven tactic.

"Kagi Search" looks cool. The examples of searches look far superior to even that of google.

But it's $5 per month. (No ads) Or $8 for couples. Even so I think I will try it. The search results look really good.

Has anyone here used Kagi Search?

"Brave search" seems to work good for me with Firefox. Protonmail is awesome yeah ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป There are alternatives to everything, just finding the good ones!

Wow thank you for sharing your personal experience and thoughts. I think you hit the nail on the head. To add to that, I have noticed with a family member of mine (who has been trying to loose weight for 20 years, unsuccessfully) that mental wellbeing = willpower. If something get you down, the weight usually goes up. It's hugely complected of course. My heart goes out to all.

I loved this theme! I remember upgrading from XP to Vista Aero (later win7) and being blown away! Aero based themes are still my favorite. Windows 8 and 10 looked cheap and boring.

I am one that switched. I have Linux Mint which I use 99.9% of the time, and a windows 10 laptop that I use 0.1% for that one windows program.

I think more people are wanting to get out of the grip that google, apple, and Microsoft have over them. Many are overwhelmed because they are in so deep. It took me months to get out, which I did about 6 years ago. I never looked back though. I know people that want out, but are not strong enough to commit to switching all their services and apps.

I have been using GrapheneOS on a Pixel 7 Pro for 3 months now. I am BLOWN AWAY at how good it is. I have 3 user profiles. Main profile has no google services at all, and 95% of my apps are running there. Then I have a second user I can switch to that has sandboxed google services and my banking apps on it. I then have a third user that also has sandboxed google services running where I can install any random app that demands google services. (I have only 1 app on that user) . So 99.9% of the time my phone is running with no google services at all. (Side note: without even the sandboxed google services installed, apps need to be left open in the app switcher in order to receive notifications. If you swipe all your apps away, then you won't receive notifications. This is not a problem for me, as I just keep my messaging apps open in the app switcher. But if it is a problem for you, you would need to run the sandboxed google services).

I see GrapheneOS as a way of removing 99% of all the tracking, spyware and things that I dont like, while still having the convenience of having all the apps and features that are available on a regular smartphone.

There is a learning curve, and many settings to learn and customize. But definitely worth it.

To get a Pixel, instead of paying ยฃ900 for a new pixel 8 pro, I paid ยฃ300 for a second hand Pixel 7 Pro on eBay that was in perfect condition. So for ยฃ300 I now have a privacy phone and an AMAZING camera, which was very important for me the camera.

Good. Keep religious indoctrination out of the school room. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

It's a shame about all the other indoctrination that is still there. But at least let the kids grow up before religion comes knocking at the door. (Literally knocking in the case of Jehovah's Witnesses...lol)

As do I.. I was meaning in addition to Lemmy. I was under the impression that the above mentioned sites are more of a "Facebook alternative" with a bigger lean towards photos of your resent holiday and that Lemmy is more of a Reddit alternative/done right.

I'm new to all this, so please feel free to correct me ๐Ÿ™ƒ. I'm changing all my services to decentralized / FOSS etc. a lot to learn.

Spotify pays very little to artists, And the sound quality is not high.

I will be switching to Tidal very soon, as it offers HiFi and it pays more to artists. I believe it pays much more.

Spotify has been greedy and cheap in my most humble opinion!
