Anti Commercial AI thingy

Just out of curiosity, do you think that licensing your posts under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 makes it illegal to use them to train an AI? If so, why do you think that? I post GPL licensed code online, so I'm interested in this topic.

Btw, have you guys heard of Taler? It's pretty interesting and I think you will be able to use it with a libre app

NGI TALER is a pilot funded by the European Commission and the Swiss State with the very concrete objective to roll out a new, best-in-class electronic payment system that benefits everyone: people, merchants, banks, financial authorities, auditors and anti-corruption researchers. The project doesn't have to start from scratch either, but builds on the strong foundations of GNU Taler — the privacy-preserving digital payment system developed by the GNU community and Taler Systems SA with support from the NGI initiative. This offers privacy for those that make payments, while enforcing transparency on those that sell. By providing micro payments at very low overhead, GNU Taler permits internet business models to shift away from advertising revenue or subscription models, especially for online publishers. No-risk transactions can lower transaction fees and open online payments for the underbanked population and citizens marginalized from digitalisation.

Short term solution: convince other users to use piped.video or FreeTube
Long term solution: convince creators to post on PeerTube

I see this a lot in discussions about climate change lately: country X is polluting just as much or more than us so we shouldn't do anything. This argument makes no sense.

Uses Godot.
Makes a proprietary game.

The attitude towards Nvidia is toxic considering some people need it for work and other people just don’t have the choice to switch.

Have you ever considered that we are in this mess, because of people like you? Nvidia is abusing their users and instead of admitting that, you choose to defend them and make up excuses for them. Think about what you are doing. As we speak there is somebody else somewhere making the same excuses for Microsoft, Apple, Google or any other shitty company. Nobody wants to prevent those companies from making money, we just want them to do it in an ethical way. If not, they can fuck off.

It's important to point out that AMD isn't perfect either (I don't know about Intel), since it requires you to install proprietary firmware. But it's obviously a huge improvement, since it doesn't require proprietary drivers. If we forced Nvidia to do what AMD does, we would be in a much better position. So if you care about freedom, Nvidia is the last company you should choose.

The people in the bus are the users of free software projects that depend on proprietary CUDA libraries.

There used to be Nitter project, but it seems to be dead.

If he's so smart, why can't he use GNU/Linux?

Ah, that makes sense! I didn't realise that it was the modem. It runs proprietary firmware, which developers can't really replace.

Edit: I noticed this message when trying to plug in USB devices while the keyboard addon is attached. For some reason USB devices only work without the keyboard. But I couldn't find any mention of this other than some old bug that has already been fixed.

The modem does have issues with waking up from sleep and I sometimes have to restart it with a script. WiFi has a similar problem.
