It has an Android version, so I think that for OP this is next to ideal.

I personally use EasyTAG in Linux but that's just pref.

i used this but when i used warpinator to put the .opus into my phone the album cover didnt come with, do i need to warp the image too and keep them in the same file?

Mp3tag isn't Foss AFAIK but it's never let me down. You can load just about any audio file too

You can also name the file cover.jpg or folder.jpg and put it in the album's folder, and most players will pick it up. I prefer this method as it saves space

Metadata for MP3 tracks is stored in an id3 tag; you need an id3 tag editor to embed the thumbnail into the tag.

There's a lot of automation out there, MusicBrainz Picard is probably the best option out there for automating the process, especially if your tracks are already sorted by album.

Pretty sure ffmpeg will do it if you like CLI.

The general category of software you want is an ID3 tag editor. If you search for that you should be able to find FOSS options.

My mind went straight to Aphex Twin hiding images you could decode with a sound spectrum analyzer. https://www.magneticmag.com/2012/08/the-aphex-face-visualizing-the-sound-spectrum/

If it doesn't, other audio players allow you to.
