Always reminds me of the console wars... people attach their whole identity to all kinds of things nowadays and fight for it like it was a religion. Did not see much good come out of such threads yet.

I use a bunch of distros, just like I have a lot of different tools in my toolbox. Each serves a slightly different function.
Keep in mind that the motto is "World domination," not "Internal quarrelling".
A distro isn't just a way to interact with the Linux operating system. It's a collection of tools that helps you do it. Some tools are just sharper that others. The community just likes debating about this important nuance. It's not that complicated.
My tools of choice come from the famous blue logo distro.

Out of them all, the most famous one is the one I use. Kept the name a bit of a mystery to avoid the resultant argument about it btw.

I think it's fairly obvious that they mean Arch because they are sharing which distro they use without being prompted, which is inline with a common running joke about doing the same thing, btw.

Sure except every district has the same tools. I distribute is more of a toolbox then a tool.
I haven't minded the tongue-in-cheek jokes about distros since forever, but people who take it way too seriously, and don't see that each distro has its benefits and drawbacks are kinda annoying.

The reality, of course, is that there is no "Best distro" for all use cases, and personal choice is absolutely a qualifier in defining those use cases. If your personal requirement is for a neon pink desktop and rather aged theming aimed at little girls, then you've absolutely chosen "The best distro" for you and don't let anyone tell you differently.
The threads about distros are the really bad ones.
I have learned absolutely nothing about the strengths and weaknesses of each distro, just learned which ones are difficult to install.
Ease and difficulty of installation are strengths and weaknesses, don't sell yourself short.
I think it’s a double edged sword.
On the one side, you can see it as bringing more attention to Linux and allowing a broader audience to find Linux.
On the flip side, the threads about which distro is best can get very toxic.
Made infinitely more entertaining by the fact they're all more or less the same under the hood with minor differences packed ontop of the same Linux kernel

The only way to avoid having disagreements about which choice of distro is best would be to avoid having any choices.

I agree that the wealth of distros offers a choice for everyone and shows how much users love Linux as a system and respect the idea of a diverse, global open source community as a whole.
