Yes, and they are real games. We just played 'Exploding Kittens', and yesterday, we played 'Tichu'.
I only play the Tichu when I have a cold.
Board games here too! Lots of Terraforming Mars and Ticket to Ride
Exploding Kittens is so good. Take a look at the expansions if you haven't already. They add a ton of new cards that really add to the experience.
Thanks! I'll have a look!
What would be a fake game?
Playing online games with your family while everyone is at home. You can't be more fake than that.
Some retro-gaming with my son using two bluetooth gamepads and RetroArch on the Chromecast with Google TV.
Easy to carry in the luggage, and no Internet required.
What has become our holiday tradition is Jackbox.
My parents asked me to bring the VR kit like I did last year. It's an old HTC Vive I lucked into for cheap from a friend who didn't have space to really use it once he'd moved. I run things through SteamVR.
Had to bring the whole desktop but it was worth while - my brother and mum get a kick out of Beatsaber, my dad and cousin were all about The Lab's archery game, Longbow. Nothing else was played on it, but those two are enough. Kinda like a little side-room arcade.
Of course you can't really play with each other, not with my one headset and PC but someone playing draws a small crowd so it's entertaining for all.
I wouldn't really recommend anyone to get VR at this point unless they're super into that kinda thing as the ecosystem of games is pretty weak for the price and setup, and it doesn't seem to be developing very fast.
However, it was a real joy to have at Christmas. Even my very aged grandpa shot a few arrows and had a marvel at it.
Otherwise, I'll always play a game or two of FIFA on the Xbox with my brother for old times sake!
Do you mount the lightboxes when you bring it with you? Mine has been languishing in a corner for a year because I have high ceilings in my current apartment and don't feel like going through the trouble to mount them
I don't. I don't at home either. I'm sure it's terrible practice and I'm courting disaster but just standing them there on the shelves honestly does the trick. They're quite forgiving with the view angle it seems.
Nothing beats MarioKart with the nieces and nephews
MarioKart starts getting violent later in the evening once the liquor is flowing.
We played a few rounds of Jackbox last night with my mom and brother. My daughter and I got in a little Super Mario World this afternoon and we played a round of Pokemon TCG. I kicked her ass pretty bad. She wasn't really happy about that. Even though we're both just learning, I have decades of Magic and Hearthstone under my belt. 😂 She'll get me eventually!
My family can't get on my level 😂
Because of the way steam changed family share my wife and I don't play together much anymore.
I play doctor and nurse with my wife. Does that count?
Judges? Ding ding. They’ll allow it!
Crawl is a holiday tradition in our house! I know it’s on PC and Switch, not sure what else though.
Oh yes, played a bunch of Horror games over the weekend with my cousins . Outlast 2 was a highlight and Soma. Also It takes two was great but I decided playing with the wife might be more fun back home.
Its called "Putting up with your racist southener side of the family" and its easily the worst game of the year.
I kid. Its Board Games time when i'm with family and last year I got them hooked on Fluxx.
I got my wife to play Mario Wonder and we are currently playing some old school NES Super Mario 2 & 3. Life is good.
