Why in the hell are we not always requiring masks in a medical setting!?
Or really anywhere. Humans are filthy.
I thought the same. With all the immunocompromised people there, and all the circulating sick people you would think it would just be mandatory forever at hospitals and doctors offices.
I had heart surgery last Thursday. And I was shocked that they didn't have me mask up or test me for covid. And a lot of the doctors and nursing staff did not have masks on. I finally just put one on because if you're going to get sick a hospital sure seems like a place full of sick people
Here's to a quick recovery!
Thanks bud, I appreciate it. Unfortunately it's looking like I'm going to need a heart transplant in the next 3 to 5 years so that kind of fucking sucks.
I watched the Times Square ball drop on tv and all I could see was a massive super spreader event
There are so many other reasons not to do that. It's freezing, you have to get there really early, you're standing for hours, there are almost no bathrooms. Fuck that shit. They interviewed a couple from New Orleans who came to New York to see the ball drop on the stream we were watching. Fuck that, give me a New Orleans January over a New York January.
I second your multiple "fuck thats" and warm weather preferences.
Wasn't it in the 40s? Not really freezing.
I was at the HQ hospital of California’s largest healthcare provider last week (Kaiser), and I was surprised to see that most of the nursing and administrative staff were not masking. Doctors were though. l
I have been in urgent care twice and er once in the last week. Less than half the people on the lobbies wore masks. One nurse, collecting readings from my mother in law who was covid positive, didn't even wear a mask.
I got sick with 3 different nasty bugs in December. Not covid and not the flu, but just as bad. I’m masking the rest of the winter and well into spring.
I have not stopped wearing a mask for patient visits since 2020. And I will not stop until I leave medicine.
I asked my partner that we return to wearing masks in settings with lots of people and where people go when sick: grocery store, pharmacy, doc offices. I’m not planning on masking up when I join coworkers for drinks because I don’t think most sick people power-through to go to bars. So it’s a negotiation with myself depending on the situation.
You'd be wrong about sick people not going to bars.
you may not believe this, but last night I saw a friend who is in town still for christmas. she said she cant rememeber the last time she was this congested. didnt mention it until we were out. the plan was to swing by her house the next morning to see her mom, and she waited until we were inside the house to mention she took a covid test this morning and it was positive. we sat outside for 20 minutes and left.
Not sure I'd call that person a friend.
she really blew it on this one I'll tell you that
I just spent the evening convincing my partner to take a test. "I have a headache and sore throat but no covid symptoms"... I don't think I could get them to ever wear a mask again. Meanwhile I kinda love not getting sick so I've never stopped masking. Anyways we're getting a divorce later this year or early next year, unrelated reasons, so not my problem soon
