Do you know any chess clubs/programmes for a 5-7 year old in Vancouver/Richmond area?

I would preferably want to be able to look up the coach(es) online or attend one of their lessons before enrolling my kid.

PS: I know I may sound very picky, but I have witnessed first hand how a not great tutor in the early ages can ruin the enthusiasm for chess and change the future.

If you cant find anything in your area, I would also suggest looking for online lessons. You can find coaches on chess.com and lichess.org with different price points and there are no obligations to continue with the same coach if you find them to not be up to your standards.

Thanks. I'd go the online route if my kid was a few years older but given the age, I believe in-person lessons are the best for now.

My kids (9 and 7) like chess kid, which has some tutoring built in. They did a chess class after school for a month or so, but most of their time since is on the website. 5 seems a little young, maybe wait a couple years until they show some ability to plan ahead.

I'm not in Vancouver though, so I can't recommend any local clubs or anything. Give that site a try, maybe you'll like it.
