I saw a community from feddit.de on lemmyverse.net which I wanted to explore but I got a server error opening the community. I thought it might be abandoned or deleted but feddit.de seems completely unreachable atm.

I also checked with multiple devices in case I would have been banned for some reason.

Does anyone know why that is the case? Have a good one.

Feel free to lmk if I need to ask this somewhere else.

They should really have a mastodon account for status updates that's not hosted on their infrastructure.

I completely agree! Tchncs.de has a matrix room for updates and their infrastructure seems very varied so I guess that another way to do it.

Feddit has had a ton of outages recently, there were a bunch of admin posts over there every once in a while when they are up again. I'm not quite sure how the 99% are calculated, maybe most of that is historic availability and currently they are just fucked.

There's https://status.feddit.de, but even that was unavailable last week.

Really they have had a ton of outages throughout their existence compared to other instances but at some times it was better and at times it was worse.

Very interesting. I‘m hosting for a handful of peeps so I can’t compare to them. Hope it works out for them.

Shit is weird, it was completely offline for a day or two but now I've been able to access it via app again for a couple of days, I can even post this from feddit.de. Meanwhile in the browser it appears entirely dead. As if the Lemmy instance is working again but the Apache is down.

Very interesting! Maybe you can post it over there somewhere so the admins become aware?

Okay. Thanks for lmk.

Not sure why but feddit.de was broken with themed errors for a day or more and now just shows a white page with Server error for the last 2-3 days. Even status.feddit.de just results in a timeout.

I’m not sure if this message will work but for some reason the app via feddit is still working. They did have / had issues the last few days, couldn’t reach anything. Would be nice if they could at least provide an update on what’s going on.

Edit: there’s also this one monitoring uptime and it represents exactly how the last few days went by https://lemmy-status.org/endpoints/_feddit-de

[-] taladar@sh.itjust.works 3 points 8 months ago

I can't really confirm those uptime monitor results, for me it hasn't worked a single time in the last few days.

I’m using Memmy and it didn’t work at all for the last few days, it came online from time to time and I was able to see the posts which were synced / federated days ago so feddit.de wasn’t able to federate / refresh content properly. The app at the moment works but the website yeah no idea what’s happening there, hope don’t have to jump ship another time.

It seems to be an issue where ImageMagick filled up the drive, which in turn killed the database. After freeing the space, the database has now an inconsistent state and throws errors. It also looks like the db backups are corrupt. For whatever reason I'm still able to use this account through the Sync app.

I have these information from their matrix room https://matrix.io/#/#feddit:tilde.fun

Damn. That sucks. One reason why my instance is invitation only. Lemmy is absolutely not at the state where it can easily be run for large userbases.

Have they reached out to other admins of large instances like dbzero and world and the devs on ml? They might be able to provide assistance.
