Is this just a thing we're going to do, now? Have a performative impeachment effort every time there's a blue president, just so Trump doesn't have to have his feelings hurt?

[-] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 86 points 4 months ago

It's not just about soothing Trump's feelings. By repeatedly doing this they are trying to dilute the credibility of Trump's impeachments. It's their way of saying "See anyone can impeach a president! So Trump's impeachments don't mean anything!"

[-] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 8 points 4 months ago

I mean if the traitorous shitpile of a person becomes president again he will have to have an impeachment filed against him on day one by his own admission, so they have to dilute it

[-] jballs@sh.itjust.works 49 points 4 months ago

When Nixon faced impeachment, it eventually led to the creation of Fox News. Seems logical that the GOP would take Trump's two impeachments and multiple felonies to create something even more fucked up, like the death of our democracy.

[-] EmpathicVagrant@lemmy.world 19 points 4 months ago

It’s the same picture.

[-] cmbabul@lemmy.world 23 points 4 months ago

I mean he does have to die eventually, he’s already old as fuck

[-] frunch@lemmy.world 13 points 4 months ago

I swear he's gonna live way too much longer than he deserves and when he finally dies there will def be stupid conspiracies that he's still alive like Elvis

[-] NoForwardslashS@sopuli.xyz 16 points 4 months ago

Like the man could ever live in hiding.

[-] frunch@lemmy.world 11 points 4 months ago

Actually, that's a really good point. I still think people will mythologize him regardless, but that's def valid.

[-] PrincessLeiasCat@sh.itjust.works 36 points 4 months ago

These fucking people, I swear. Children…60 year old children.

Unfortunately for everyone, Mitch McConnell was an absolute wrecking ball in getting conservative judges placed under agent orange’s tenure.

[-] Snapz@lemmy.world 26 points 4 months ago

Impeachment "effort"

[-] Nougat@fedia.io 22 points 4 months ago

They could, I dunno, vote against it?

[-] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 14 points 4 months ago

May as well ask a bunch of worms to spontaneously grow a spine.

[-] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 4 months ago

The Republicans who fear that it will hurt their chances in the general election are not the same people who are pushing for impeachment.

[-] Nougat@fedia.io 3 points 4 months ago

No shit, so if they're so a-scrred about what their super-lunatics are doing, they could publicly state their position on the matter now, that they would not vote to impeach.

[-] Rapidcreek@lemmy.world 15 points 4 months ago

Please proceed.

Far-right House members, like Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Andy Biggs (R-AZ) or Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) remain hard pressed to oust the president, despite the fact his term is almost over.

Oh, Margie, NO! You want to impeach a man because your orange shitball got impeached and you think this is somehow going to be payback. But your colleagues all know that this is a stupid move, by your stupid ass, and you're too stupid to see it. Calm down, Margie! You won't be able to show dick pics in congress if you get yourself voted out.

Not that your position is at risk; the stupid people in your district aren't at risk of having a thought. You'll be fine, Margie.
