Went to the block page in Settings and typed "threads" into the instance field. Threads.net didn't show up. Is this because they are already blocked by SDF? Or are they still getting my content? I already had a Threads user reply to one of my comments maybe a month ago. I decided to wait and see how I felt about it and I'm certain: I don't want my posts reaching them. Thanks in advance.

Yeah I asked myself the same question yesterday. SDF doesn't seem to block anything but threads.net is nowhere to be seen in the list of allowed instances. I thought maybe a Lemmy server had a whitelist as well as a blacklist, and SDF takes the time to manually whitelist instances rather than allow everyone by default and blacklist the indesirables.

I would be shocked. They don't even notice when we're defederated.

Does it federate with Lemmy? I thought it was more of a Mastodon-like service.

can this also happen if nobody on the instance is subscribing to anything on threads?

also: i think blocking threads with your settings may not prevent users on threads from seeing your posts

I believe this is accurate.

Unrelated... do you remove the default self-upvote from your own comments?
