"You say trust the experts, but those same experts for 40 years said that if we shipped our manufacturing base off to China, we'd get cheaper goods," Sen. JD Vance said during last week's VP debate. "They lied about that."

Funny thing about this line... You ever been in a Walmart or Harbor Freight or something, holding something in your hand wondering how the hell they sell it so cheaply and still make a profit?

That's how. It does make goods cheaper. It's just a question of are the pros (cheaper goods) worth the cons (carbon emissions, lost domestic manufacturing, abuse of unprotected laborers), not that there's nothing in the pros column.
