My cat slowly walking on, but then jumping over the grille until she finally walks around it.

Yeah, if every single part of my foot were small enough to get wedged between the grates on every step, I don’t think I’d like it much either

Yeah imagine a grate where the vanes are 5 inches apart. Oh look at the silly human who doesn’t like walking on it with bare feet!

Okay but now I'm imagining I can jump like a cat, and having too much fun to bother with any silly grates.

Those poor toe beans

It could be painful for a cat to walk on this. Or just deeply uncomfortable. I don't see this as some silly thing.

Cute cat! Nice to see she has ways around it.

To be fair have you ever walked on something like that barefoot? I bet it's not comfortable

To be fair i don't like walking on those either. It feels almost like walking on ice to me for some reason

Many locations that for various reasons have fenced in animals use those so that there can be breaks in the fence for vehicles without the animals escaping.

Edit: but, you know, whatever size is appropriate for an animal. I think the zoo had one for elephants when I was a kid.

A simple strip of cardboard or narrow board would be nice for her to walk on and still let the grate do its grate-y thing.

You're right, but that's a nothing hop for a kitty. Cats utilize vertical space more than we do usually. It's one reason they get more exercise indoors than dogs can. Unless she's disabled, in which case by all means accommodate.

There really is no need as she could simply walk around it without any inconvenience (the grille isn't as wide as the doors). She just prefers hop over it.

I’m basically Pavlov-conditioned to upvote the word “Miez” now. They could just post a text post with only the words “Miez cat good” and I’d upvote it instantly.

Should put a mat over that.

Edit I know there us a need for drainage use a coco mat or dense but still capable of letting water flow thru it.

Why though even bother? This is just a small hop for her plus the grille isn't even as wide as the door. She simply prefers to hop instead.

I love the little wobble when she does kitty physics in her head before jumping.

I had an indoor cat and he didn't like touching grass haha

I read that as Miette and did a melodramatic voiceover in my head.
