This game is Arkham Asylum. I picked it up during the steam sale, and i had Red Dead 2 installing to pay online. I didn't plan far enough ahead though for it to be done tonight (it was going to take nearly 5 hours and my Steam Deck's recent issues has me afraid to finish up Silent Hill 2 until i figure out the issue with the power button), so i installed Arkham Asylum. It's on my Bucket List to 100% and it's a short game. So i figured why not boot it up and play some. I made it all the way to the Batcave before stopping for tonight.

To my surprise the game ran at a stable 30 FPS at 1440p on my Steam Deck, which i was shocked by. The game honestly looks really good at high resolutions, though it still shows it's age. Especially in the textures. One such way this is supported i feel like is the scarecrow hallway

The lighting is really well done here. It got me to try and figure out the FRAMED. Community walkthrough for Arkham Asylum because i'd love to get proper photos of the Asylum.

On the subject of Scarecrow i wanted to talk about the damn scarecrow segment. I've played this a few times and every single time it scares the shit out of me. Especially the bit where he's peeking around the corners of a narrow wall back and forth and you have to sprint across.

This also brings me to the morgue. I didn't expect to be complimenting a morgue but the lighting is really well done in here too:

Overall it's a really pretty game that excels at being scary. Though City and Origins are my favorite. I can definitely see why this one has captured so many people's hearts

Yeah man, this a show-a-bit-love message to encourage you to continuous. I really appreciate it specially the small text you always attach to the games.

And if yiir reviews are with the steam deck, even better so I can see what to expect from the not-yet-at-my-hands console

Keep going!

Thank you! I love seeing people enjoy the texts I attach to it.

For the Steam Deck, I will say as an unsolicited review that in my opinion it was well worth the price. It packs a surprising amount of power for a game console of its size, though I play mostly docked nowadays so people’s mileage from mine will vary.

A lot of modern games are in the playable range for me at native resolution. Playable for me meaning 30 FPS and tolerable levels of FSR grain. Though some games like Silent Hill 2 I make an exception for since it’s really not supposed to be running on Steam Deck and instead will allow it 20-24 FPS (like a cinema)

What a great game. I should look into what that dev team has made lately, I'm sure they're still making high quality games...

I really enjoy looking at bad games so long as I can grab them dirt cheap. It’s a hobby I have. Even then I saw Suicide Squad for $2.50 and I couldn’t warrant getting it for that much. The game does not look interesting enough to spend 2.50 on for me personally

Hey dude! What is going on with the Deck? And do you play most games on it? Also, happy holidays, love your content! 🙂

Happy Holidays! My Steam Deck has an issue where the power button isn’t doing anything. I keep it docked most of the time but Silent Hill 2 will freeze up the system and the system will need reset. I can’t tell if it’s a software issue or hardware issue (I’m leaning towards Hardware). I need to crack it open and figure it out. I’m worried though I’ll need to solder on a new power button though which would be a bit irksome.

It’s my only source of PC gaming right now because I bought it over a gaming desktop years ago due to it being better for my lifestyle at that time (I was/Still am a student who spends a lot of time on campus so portability is nice). Luckily if I can’t fix the power button issue, Alan Wake II inspired me to start planning a full size gaming rig so I can do Fancy Shmancy Raytracing and 4K without FSR

Oh man you need to play the rest of the series! And they're all super cheap for the sale! They're all honestly worth full price so the fact that each one is like $2-5 is an incredible deal.

And Arkham Knight is still one of the best looking games imo.

I went ahead and picked up the entire bundle plus origins. I think after Asylum I’ll put it on a brief hold because I’ve been also wanting to really play and finish Control. But after that I want to go back to Arkham and do City and maybe origins all in one chunk
